Is there a way to transfer music from an itunes account to and EVO Shift so that I can listen to my music on my phone?
You can try Google Music or Snap Music. They both work pretty much the same. They take the music stored on your computer and stream it to your phone. Google Music just came out of beta and works great on my Samsung Epic 4G. Google Music works by uploading all your music to Google's servers. I haven't used Snap Music yet but it appears to stream music to your phone directly from you computer.

Couple great options there! The HTC will play MP3 and M4A (AAC) files from iTunes; it will not play M4P (protected) files.
Personally, I just connect my HTC to the Mac, then drag the files from iTunes to the /music folder on the SD Card on the HTC. Works fine, although it's not elegant.
Nobody has mentioned it, but your best bet is from here on out not purchasing music from itunes. Buy your songs from Amazon.com, or somewhere that allows you to download unprotected mp3's, then bring them into itunes. You will save yourself this hassle in the future and have the ability to play the music on any mp3 playing device. I never buy music from itunes, when I buy a song it shouldn't be locked into one company and it's devices. Yes there are workarounds like the above mentioned programs, but just getting a usable mp3 should be the goal.
Let me also add, if you use Amazon.com to download your music files, you can store them on Amazon's cloud....download the Amazon MP3 app from Marketplace and stream all ur purchased music from the cloud to your device. Its AWESOME!
