I can actually carry my phone in my front pocket again.  And I still have access to the internet without all that extra noise that comes with a Smartphone.

I would like to just say, Wow!  The display on this device is pretty great considering it is an 8 inch display.  My daughter had a play date and we turned on our new Slate 8 to test out how Netflix would stream while driving 45 minutes across town.  Before we got on the road we opened up Netflix and turned on The Boxtrolls.  I am pretty impressed with screen quality of this HD device.  I anticipated with the smaller screen combined with streaming on Netflix that it would be a little hindered.  But that wasn’t the case at all.  It was pretty great!  So was having my wife do all the driving so that I could enjoy this fine piece of technology with my daughter.  She loves watching movies with Daddy!

I’m a big fan of sound quality and when I first turned on the Slate 8 I tested out the quality of sound when streaming music on Spotify.  You can check out that post at the following link:

There wasn’t any decrease from Spotify to Netflix when it comes to sound.  Both experiences were using headphones connected via Bluetooth or directly to the device.  But both experiences provided a good overall sound experience.  Watch for some additional insight into the Slate 8 over the next few days and coming weeks as I continue to discover all the fun things this device can do.  Next up, I’m going to see what the camera can do for me and the family.
