My Pre is working nicely right now after a few little problems with earlier updates. i have seen several people like Levi4u and others talking about downloading preware onto the Pre. what are the chances it might screw up my phone? (coming form a real idiot with these kind of devises) is it easy to install preware? is it worth it?
i read about a better spell checker for txting and the ability to read email in the landscape mode, true?
thanks in advance for helping Twiddle Dee here
I know you are looking for others advice(besides just mine) But it is well worth installing Preware. In no way can it mess up your phone. Besides the Pre has WEB OS Dr. in case anything was to go wrong that will re-flash your phone back ot original. If you need any help installing it I'd be more then happy to help.

thanks Levi, yes i look for all the info i can get from anyone and everyone but in reading your posts it isnt as complicated as some make it and that is HUGE
go figure, i didnt get it going.
i got to the part where it is looking for the Novacom and it cant find it. i redid the . This time it should see your Pre or Pixi. If not, click Tools then Options then Attempt Novacom Reinstallation. i have tried it a few times and still no Novacom
do you know what is wrong or what i need to do, or most likely what i did wrong?
my firewall is off. the webos quick install comes up and goes almost to the end, then a black pop up comes on and says service removed
Go over this post here and if you still have issues let me know.
what post, the one we are working on?
sorry, my stupidity is really coming out.
i keep getting to the same place and then doesnt go further.
i click on Download here, then click on the SAVE button on the File Download screen, then right click on WebOS Quick install and Java is the defalt. then it says download complete and i click on OPEN FOLDER
i click on FILE and then option. i set the DEVISE TO USE as USB devise then click on ATTEMPT NOVACOM (RE) INSTALLATION. then the little box comes up and says prepairing to install and it goes all green bar, then a second bar, Novacomd comes up and goes about 80% and stops, then the little black box comes up and says service removed and the WebOS install screen is still empty
any ideas what i am doing wrong?
I'm pretty sure that is what it is supposed to do.
First do this, Go to StartMenu->Run...->Type in "services.msc" and look for a "Palm Novacom" entry and making sure it's started. Is it in there? If it is it installed correctly.
OR check in "Control Panel" "ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS" and check if "NOVACOMD" is installed.
Now to be clear, You have got both "WEB OS Quick Install" AND "WebOS Dr." placed in the same folder?
Open folder and double click WEB OS QuickInstall to start it,
Enable DEV MODE on your phone, by typing "upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart", opening the DeveloperMode app, and enabling the feature.(your phone will restart)
Plug your phone into your PC and choose "JUST CHARGE"
The WEB OS Install screen will be empty untill you choose what to install into it,
Tap the "BLUE ARROW" An "IPKG REPOSITORY VIEWER" in the top menu choose "WEBOS-INTERNALS FEED (ALL)",
In there choose, "PACKAGE MANAGER SERVICE" and "PREWARE"
Tap "DOWNLOAD" after it downloads tap "CLOSE"
Then choose "INSTALL"
If it tells you it needs to install anything else for the programs to run let it install them.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS GREAT thanks for your help. i just DLD the email in landscape mode
