Upgrades On Palm Pixi !

Hello All. This Is my first "smartphone" I've Been hearing alot about how you can upgrade your pixi/pre to 1.3.1 ? or whatever it is . and i was just wondering if thats something you have to do or your own , or if it happens auotmatically , or ... ? if you have to do it on your own , can anyone tell me how to ?  also , i just wanted to know about apps , do you have to pay for all of them , or are some of them free , or what ? Also , Where Can I Get Them From ?

Im Anxious To Get My Pixi In The Mail & Would Really Appreciate A Reply .

Thanks ,

Re: Upgrades On Palm Pixi !

The current version is Palm webOS 1.4.1.1. You can go to quick launcher, device info and look at your current version. If your phone needs an update bring up the quick launcher and click on updates and it will update for you!

Re: Upgrades On Palm Pixi !

for the Apps bring up the quick launch and click on the "App Catalog" and once you are in there you will see different catagories and such...it will also show the price or it will say free. Some Apps come as a "lite" version so you can see what they are all about before you actually purchase it. Once you download an App it will show up as another icon once you bring up the quick launch

You should install "Preware" on it and it will allow you to do all the things listed below.

Re: Upgrades On Palm Pixi !

Yep, No problem. The main thing you need to know is you have to(should) uninstall any themes and patches before you install an upgrade from palm/sprint. Easy peasy, you will open "Preware" and they have an app you choose and it will remove all patches, then unistall the theme. All apps applied thru preware can stay.

As far as getting preware installed on your phone you will download WEBOS QI onto your pc, Then use it to install preware(and the associated program(s) it need to run, It will alert you and pick those out on it's own)

When/if you want to install it(preware) send me a PM and I will walk you thru it if you need a hand.
