Premium Data - What a joke

I recently upgraded my phone to the EVO 3D only to find out that I am subject to a $10 a month premium data fee. Premium data, please someone define for me what premium data is? I sure do not feel like am receiving premium data. I have been conducting daily network speed test to see just what speeds premium data gets me. I'm located in SE Michigan and I have to say the results are horrible. If I'm able to the server and perform the test the results on average are able half of  Sprint's advertised 3G network speeds, about 332 kbps download, the last time I averaged my results. Since calling and complaining it seems that my service has gotten considerably worst. The results of testing over the last 2 days, Jan,  29-30, have been worst then dial-up speeds, less that 56kbps. I plans to keep this blog up daily week and I will post the results of my speed test as well and I encourage other customers who are not receiving the advertised level of service and are paying a premium data fee to do the same.

Premium Data - What a joke

The slow data speeds and $10 premium data charges have really been fully discussed on this forum.  Many people are having very poor data speeds.  I have attached a few threads talking about these issues.  One of the threads is a couple hundred pages long.

The premium data charge is here to stay.  I would just consider it as part of the pricing plan and use it to compare to other providers if you want.  What matters is if you are happy with your service.  if you feel the pricing (including the premium data) and the data speeds you are getting are acceptable, then be happy with Sprint.

If you feel the service is over priced or feel your data speeds are not even quick enough to be useful, then I would suggest taking your phone back while in your trial period.  Do not listen to "you are scheduled for tower upgrades" or "4G is coming to your area" or "there is a tower down".

What you are receiving is what you will get.  If you find it acceptable, then I would be content.  If not, then you might want to pay a little bit more money and go with another service provider that will work for your area.

Again, just keep in mind, what you are receiving is what you should continue to expect.

Premium Data - What a joke

premium data isnt 4G related. the fact that for the most part a smart phone will usually use double the data a regular phone (dump phone) will use is why that fee is there. unfortunatly this is something that needs to be pointed out more when someone is switching up to a smart phone no matter which one it is.
