Important Notes:

- Updates may be released in stages; if you do not receive a notification on your device immediately, please check back later

- If the battery on your device isn't charged to at least 30%, connect the device to a charger before beginning the udpate 

- If available, connect to Wi-Fi or 4G to apply the update

- Update consists of a download and an install process:

  - Download time in the background will take approximately 5 minutes.  The device may be used while the update is downloading.

  - Install time could take up to 15 minutes.  The device will not be usable during the install.  Prior to the initiation of the install, the

    the following message will be displayed on the device as a reminder: “Your device will be out of service while installing the  download”.

WARNING: During the upgrade process the device may reboot multiple times and show software upgrade screens. Do not remove the battery

                   as this will stop the update and your device may be rendered inoperable!  Do not attempt to use the device until the “Congratulations” screen appears.

Update your software:

Software will be automatically downloaded to your phone

1.  A notification will be sent to the device prompting the user to install the update

2.  Follow the onscreen instructions to install the update


Getting Started

  • Before you proceed with the update, make sure you have done the following:
  • Set aside approximately 20 minutes to allow the device to update
  • Connect the device to a charger
  • Ensure the battery is charged to at least 35%
  • If available, connect to Wi-Fi or 4G to speed up the update download process

1.  Go to the Home screen

2.  Tap Menu > Settings > System updates > HTC software update > Check now

3.  Tap OK to download any available updates

4.  After the download is complete, you will be prompted to Install Now or Install Later.  Select Install Now and tap OK

     to install the update.

5. During installation, the device will be unusable for several minutes.

6. A message will display indicating the update was successful.  Tap OK to finish. 

Check the software version on your phone:

1.  Go to the Home screen

2.  Tap Menu > Settings > About phone > Software Information

3.  The build number and software number show the current version on your phone

3D technology relies on showing different pictures to each eye - the left eye sees a slightly different picture than the right eye - fooling the brain into thinking we're looking at a 3-dimensional object.  You're familiar with the old glasses model - red for one eye, blue for the other.  Modern movie glasses use polarized filters instead of colors but the idea is the same.  But how does the HTC Evo 3D do it without glasses?  Something called a Paralax Barrier on the screen:
