My HTC EVO 4G will not power on. While having it on the phone froze so I powered it off and now it will not turn back. And with no battery that can be removed to maybe take it out and then put back in so it will power up my phone will not power back on, what do I do its the only phone I have?
Your right, the battery can not be removed from a user point of view. However, HTC incorporated a Battery Pull functionality which you'll see the reference SimPull referred to. This is the act of holding the power button for 10+ seconds which simulates a battery pull.
Also, see the following thread on the same subject which appears to have been resolved.
Yeah...that doesn't work, nor does holding down the power button and the volume down button simultaneously for 10 sec, 60 sec..... or .....
Any other suggestons?
Make sure it's fully charged, or has been charged for at least 30-45 minutes. Waiting for fully charged would be best just to rule out an issue with the charging port not actually charging. Try again. If it's charged and still won't start, you will need to take it to a Sprint Repair Center as it's possible the phone has a bad power button. Or worse, dead.
I had something similar happen to me this morning. it was working fine up until this morning and when I got back from class, it had turned itself off and wouldn't turn on or even accept a charge. I finally got it working and when it powered up it had ~50% battery so I know it wasn't a low batter thing. any ideas?
Does your EVO recognize the charger when plugged in? If so try plugging in the charger and holding the power button for 15 seconds minimum. If that fails, just allow it to charge for about 10-15 minutes. Sometimes if the battery is completley depleted, it will need to charge for a little while before getting connected.
yes it recognizes the charger. It was a one time thing and I'm trying to figure out what happened so it doesn't happen again. However, I know that this was not due to lack of a charge as when I finally got it on, there was ~50% batter left.
