HTC EVO™ 4G Software Update - 5.07.651.1
- Sprint Connections Optimizer
- Software version is: 5.07.651.1
- Released in stages with 100% of devices having received the update within
approximately 6 weeks
- Refer to the HTC EVO 4G Software Updates blog for install instructions
- Refer to the Sprint Connections Optimizer blog for more info on this feature
It began on 5/4. It will depend on when your device has been selected by Google to receive the update which is done randomly, you can try checking for the update manually but until your device's signature has been approved to receive the update it will not show an update available.
This will kill my battery more than ever.
No way I'm leaving radios on...
Q: Can the Sprint Connections Optimizer be deleted?
A: The feature cannot be deleted from the device like applications, however, it can be disabled by selecting Settings > Wireless & Network > Mobile Networks > Automatic Connections
and unchecking Sprint automatic connections .
Any chance this update includes a newer version of Android and/or Sense? I know its not listed in the Enhancements/fixes but back in January, when we got our last update, we got updated to Android version 2.3.5 and that was not listed in the update notes either. The only changes listed were
- Security update
- Updated Peep client (to align with Twitter)
- Battery life improvements
Keeping my fingers crossed
No way are they giving us ICS if that is what you are asking. That would be too sweet if they did, but I have not seen the original HTC EVO 4G on the list to recieve it which is a bummer!!
I have it on my Epic and it's not impacting battery usage negatively. It won't be constantly searching for a signal...which is what typically runs your battery down. Give it a try...if you don't like it, you can turn off the feature.
This is a VERY slow rollout...it will take 6 weeks for all devices to receive it. Devices are randomly selected, so the area you're located in isn't applicable.
