Thank you for answering, Will. A couple other things I noticed; when charging, or heavy use I.e., warming up the phone, the lower corners rise noticeably. They can be pushed back down a little, always to come back up when warm. Also, my electrical tape covering all the light leaking out of the sides and bottom, will not keep the screen in place. I use cases which go around the frame. Specifically the Sprint Body Glove hard case sold at launch. I have trouble prying it open, yet the corners can still lift.   I love this phone. I am not giving up on it, but this is so very upsetting. 9 hours to configure each one with all the settings, apps, widgets. I drew diagrams, I have so many customizations, I can't remember them. I also love being with Sprint. The statement about a "very minor issue", though, when there are photos with screens with credit cards and coins under the screen, trivializes a very widespread problem., which Fortune, CNN, NBC, the NY Times, and others have all reported on. An analogy, if I may:   if you had a new Lexus/BMW/Benz, for example, and the paint peeled off, would you want to be told "this is very minor" because the car still functions and   it gets you to work? I don't think so. So did my 800.00 first car...we bought a Lexus, not a 'beater'.  Please let us know when the revised units are coming in. I am having a terrible time explaining all the tape on my beautiful phone. Again, thanks for watching this thread and responding to us.

that's appreciated Will, but let's be real; sprint already knows. for something as rediclous to be happening to our phone 2 weeks after purchase is unacceptable. even more unacceptable is that the issue has been know for a week and still for official word

Did I miss an announcement? "since it looks like we will all be exchanging out phones" ........Unless Sprint swaps them out after 30, ad they did when the playing peeled off the Hero, I do not think the redesigned batch will be here in 2 weeks.

Let's all remember, this screen lifting problem is and will be covered by HTC's "defects in material and workmanship" warranty which is for a period of one year.

It's almost a certainty that any EVO's you can find now will be from the first or second production runs which undoubtably will still have the screen lifting defect.

If you want to exchange your EVO for a different Sprint phone or just return for a refund then you should probably do it within the first 30 days.  But, if you're planning on keeping your EVO, it may be that you should wait until the "updated" phones are available.  By updated I mean phones that have the screen lifting defect corrected. Otherwise I think you're just wasting your time and gas to exchange your EVO during the 30 day return period. Also, if you think by returning your EVO, you're sending Sprint a "message" regarding the screen lifting issue, well, believe me, they are aware! No one wants the problem corrected more than Sprint...... NO ONE!

I don't know, and have no connections or inside information, but I would think (hopefully) that Spring/HTC will let us know officially, before our 30 days is up, about what their plans are in regard to the EVO. It's a bummer that this had to happen with this phone, but remember, if this is the worst thing that has ever happened in your life, you are one lucky person!

Best of luck to us all,

no you didn't miss anything. still no official word. just my speculation. just wanted everyone to have options for backing up their phone before any exchange that may happen occurs. i personally had no idea coming from a blackberry. but a quick google search gives you plenty of options

Nice post, dirkbonn. I need to steer you to a small comment that is causing my antennas to stick up. On the Engadget site, where the manufacturer made their admission of the defect, it says something like : if HTC decides to cover this very minor issue under their warranty. I saw that, and said "what the heck?? That actually is not what came out of my mouth, but hey, this is a g rated forum.  There is another issue. I signed a 2 year contract contingent on the discounted price on the only phone I want. No phone, no contract, but do you really want to argue that with CS on the phone for 3 hours? Believe me, you don't. I've done it. It is an all day, every day, for a month, endeavor.    The manager of my local BB and I had a long talk today. Neither he, nor I, expect to see the altered design for at least six weeks. There ate no phones in the country now. The manufacturer has none, and is waiting for a shipment.  Those phones will be the same as these. Figure weeks to retool at the factory, then produce enough to ship, then they come from Taiwan, and have to go through all the retail distribution channels. It ain't gonna be soon. That BB has an almost 100 defective rate.  Just what we all needed....sigh.  I will say though, that to continue to sell them, knowing they are defective, is not only a poor business decision, it is IMHO, unconscionable. They just showed an EVO ad on TV. Obviously not worried about knowingly selling defective product. I may be wrong, but where I was raised, that is called fraud.

Is Sprint's Evo the Toyota of phones? No, I don't think so.
