4:07am Reboot... HTC patch?

I was awakened a tad after 4am (EST) by my phone turning back on. My first thought.... HTC patch!!!!!

It wasn't that I could see. How would we know if the Hero was in fact patched?

Yeah mine rebooted at about 2am. Dunno what was patched, if any. The reboot was definitly network controlled no doubt. Might have been for the new 60655 PRL but I had already updated mine hours earlier.

Mine rebooted about 3:15 a.m. this morning.

I noticed that mine rebooted again this morning between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.

Are these initiated by Sprint or an issue with the operating system causing the reboots?

Re: 4:07am Reboot... HTC patch?

I had to look this up perhaps others may find this useful... also I checked this morning and there is no Firmware download to be had, my PRL is 60655 I'm in Ohio:

PRL

(Preferred Roaming List)

The PRL is a list of information that resides in the memory of a digital phone. It lists the frequency bands the phone can use in various parts of the country. (The smaller bands within Cellular or PCS, technically called blocks.)

The part of the list for each area is ordered by the bands the phone should try to use first. Therefore it's a kind of priority list for which towers the phone should use.

For example, say you had a Sprint PCS phone, and were travelling in an area with no Sprint coverage, weak Verizon coverage, and strong Qwest coverage. The PRL would tell the phone to look for towers using Sprint's band for that area. Finding none, it might tell the phone to search for towers in Verizon's band next, perhaps because Sprint's roaming agreement with Qwest was not as favorable, or none existed. The phone would use Verizon's towers, as dictated by the PRL, even though Qwest might provide a better signal.

Since a PRL tells the phone "where" to search for a signal, as carrier networks change over time, an updated PRL may be required for a phone to "see" all of the coverage that it should.

Did your phone reboot or just HTC Sense? My phone still has an uptime over 112 hours so mine didn't reboot. What's your uptime? If your uptime is a few hour then your whole phone rebooted, if it's high then it was just HTC Sense.

Go to Settings -> About -> Status. Scroll down.

Re: 4:07am Reboot... HTC patch?

My phone has been rebooting every night since I got it. It is the phone itself as I can tell by the up time.

Does anyone know why some phones are rebooting nightly?
