Re: Source (+ fix) for Hero's poor battery life

I am going to try to trouble shoot the problem while at work today.

I think that when I got a picture mail, it reverted back to the awake lock.

I am going to reset to factory default then install all the apps one by one and check, then I will get a friend to send me a picture mail.

I'll report back what I find.

Re: Source (+ fix) for Hero's poor battery life

I've read severl posts here about folks "clearing" or disabling the native HTC SMS app.

How is this done?

I have turned off all notifications, and turned the phone off and then back on, and they still come

thru.  I am using Handcent for SMS, and have not found any setting in it to make it the default

SMS app.  This Hero is new out of the box, just purchased 3 days ago, so it's not loaded down

with lots of apps.

Thanks!

Re: Source (+ fix) for Hero's poor battery life

Hello everyone, I just got two Heros last week.  I have updated to 2.1 since then, but battery life is still awful.  I have taken the steps about replacing the Messaging app tonite and will report.  However, my question is: does anyone know if 2.1 was supposed to fix the issue with the messaging app ?

When I look at what has been using the battery the most it points to the Cell Standby.  The signal at my house is only FAIR so the phone seems to be spending a lot of time just looking for signal.  But the battery does not last a whole day, and in the case of one of the phones the usage is VERY light in all senses.

Re: Source (+ fix) for Hero's poor battery life

Don't be surprisesd if your battery life improves after a few charge cycles.

My battery life really was awful the first few days I had my hero.  After two weeks, it will last all day and

into the night, well into midnight, so, I think it takes a few cycles to condition the battery when it's new.

Hope this helps you.
