Help cannot transfer data off HTC One to Samsung S8

I have HTC One and just purchased the Samsung S8. I am not able to transfer data using Smart Switch:

- USB does not detect my old phone

- Wifi connects and drops

I am not able to connect my HTC One to my PC. HTC Sync Manager does not detect my phone.

I've enabled developer usb debug to no avail.

Is there any way to use Wfi, Dropbox or something else to get my data from HTC One to new S* or some interim drive?

Thanks, in advance.

Thank you so much for reaching out to us. You can upload all of your data to the cloud. For the photos and videos, you can use Google Photos. Go to the play store and download the app so you can start syncing your pictures and videos. .

For the contacts, you can use Google. Follow the steps below:

  1. From the home screen, tap the All Apps icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.

  3. Scroll to and tap Accounts & sync.

  4. Tap the Add icon.

  5. Tap Google.

  6. If you do not have a Google account, tap OR CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT.

If you already have a Google account, enter your Google email address and tap NEXT.

Note: A Gmail address is considered a Google account.

  7. Enter the account password and tap NEXT.

  8. Read the Google services message and tap to check or uncheck the option as desired.

    Tap Next.

  9. The Google account is now added.

To set specific sync settings, tap Google.

  10. Tap the account.

  11. Tap to check or uncheck the sync options as desired.

Once finished, tap the Back key.

  12. Google synchronization is now set up.

If you one to back up some files, you can use Dropbox.

  1. From the home screen, tap the All apps icon.
  2. Tap Dropbox.

Note: If Dropbox has not been set up, follow any prompts to complete setup.

  3. Tap the Menu icon.

  4. Tap Upload here.

  5. Tap an upload option.

  6. Scroll to and tap to check the desired files, then tap Upload.

  7. The files are now uploaded to Dropbox.

Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

i could have sworn in the past if you were trying to switch info from a HTC device that you had to download a HTC transfer app from the play store to assist with it. its actually been a while sinc ei switched from the One so the steps are a bit lost on me currently lol..as pointed out thought Google is the main way to transfer it all now from one device to the next.
