Set up Sprint Mobile Email for third party providers

I am trying to set up Sprint mobile email on my LG Rumor2, for my Charter.net email account.  I am using POP and need to enter a different port number than the default 110.  However when I try to do this during the account setup, my phone always crashes as I attempt to remove the "110" and enter the correct port number.  I am stuck.

Re: Set up Sprint Mobile Email for third party providers

I tried this on my phone and also got the same results.

The information above is great but if you need to change the port then the info above doesnt help.

The issue is:

When changing the port number I press the back key and the phone reboots. I need to set up an "Other IMAP" account but cannot change the SSL port number.

Why is the LG Rumor 2 rebooting when I try to do this?

Thanks

Re: Set up Sprint Mobile Email for third party providers

(from Charter themselves, it works; was not able to compose emails only check and reply using the original posters settings)

Android Mobile Email Settings For Charter Internet (from Charter.net)

Access the Mail application.

Select “Add Account”.

Select “IMAP”

Enter the full Charter.net email address.

Tap Next

Select IMAP (NOTE: Selecting POP will not allow mail to be downloaded to the device).

Enter the following incoming information:

  • Server Name: mobile.charter.net
  • Port: 993
  • Security Type: SSL

Tap Next

Enter the following Outgoing information:

  • Server Name: mobile.charter.net
  • Port: 587
  • Security Type: SSL

NOTE: The device may ask to sign-in to send messages. Select “Require sign-in” to perform this step automatically.

Tap Next

Enter the desired Display name for the account.

Tap Finish Setup. The mail account should connect and verify server acceptance. Once verified, the mail account can be used normally.
