LG V20 - Battery Saver Mode - Sprint Product Ambassador

Imagine you are out with friends or family and you are enjoying your time. While talking the night away you forget to notice that your phone is on its last leg. You end the night and as you pick up your device for the first time it is dead. No power... Does this sound familiar? Well that's cause it is. If it hasn't happened yet your one of the brave that constantly charge your device. Me I typically let it drain and charge when need.

Now this scenario is just one case that which could come true. But needless to say in any case the issue is your phone is dead and you are out of luck on charging it. LG in their infamous wisdom has embraced this and has continued to give users ways to assist in extending battery life especially in times of need.

Say hello to "Battery Saver Mode". This feature when enabled will automatically set your device in to a power save mode. It will auto reduce screen brightness, turn off vibration, restrict background data, notifications, downloading, and streaming. It optimizes the device so that users can still use the phone longer in times where no charger is to be found. This feature can be found in the General settings section under the battery & power saving option.

In this section you will see your battery status and battery usage. Battery saver mode is not normally active but if it is typically it is auto set to 15%. When enabled and enter the submenu of the battery saver mode options you can select when this feature turns on. Choices include immediately, 5% and 15%. I keep mine at 15%. Next choice is to decide what to do with the second screen while in battery saver mode. Leave it active or shut it off. I personally shut it off. The whole point is to save power why keep it active.

That is all there is too it and now your device will be ready to switch modes should you be out without a charger and need that extra battery time. Though if you have applications that must run in the background due to whatever reason (GPS tracking, stock tickers etc.) you can easily add these application to an exception list to be allowed. Simply select "Battery Usage" under the Battery & Power Saving section. Click on Ignore Optimizations. Turn on the radial next to the application you would like to continue having access to background data or other feature.

An additional option in this section to help extend the Life of your battery is the Game Battery Saver option. Again this feature is typically activated by default but if not you can turn it on. This feature will help optimize game play with graphic and CPU intensive games. If you are a heavy gamer but don't need the full high end graphics you can extend your game play ability with the battery utilizing this feature. Simply select to turn this feature on and select which option you want from either Base Optimization, Full Optimization, or Optimization by Game, Default is full optimization. When optimizing per game you can change both the resolution and frame rate from low, normal, and high.

With these additional setups you will be ready to fully use your phone to its fullest and know you are safe to access your phone should you be out and about with no charger around.

Enjoy and remember never use your phone or tablet while driving, be safe and healthy.
