the agents in here are not in control of when an update will get pushed out..they will usually know about it the day prior to the updates release or the usual...the day of its release.

Android 10 is still in Beta Trial with OnePlus.

I agree I talk to an agent a while ago maybe two months and they said a few weeks and now we are in Feb. This is really lame you got the best phone on the planet and don't even want to keep up with security and platform updates this is really sad and makes me want to buy the phone straight from OnePlus since you picked mine down to wear you dictate updates ... I will be finding a new carrier.

A common misconception, but we (Sprint, or any other carrier) do not dictate a software update.  Update or composed by the manufacturer.  They send us to test, which we do, and we send it back if there are issues.  It's a very back and forth process.  Once the bugs are addressed, then the manufacturer submits the update to the Google Over The Air (GOTA) servers.  The launch date is determined and it's deployed by those servers.

 

You may say, 'How do you know @Em_Will_I_Am ?'.  Well, in my previous Sprint life before I became the illustrious Community Manager you know today, I did the software testing before deployment.

I don't understand why they took on such a great phone then stop supporting it. Updates are crucial to security and when you won't push out the updates it enabled end users security issues. This phone is the best I ever owned but these delayed updates and patches make it so hard to justify to keep. This is my business phone and it really is disatisfying to deal with a 6 month delay.

theyre either running into issues/bugs with them OR theyre not that great when it comes to kicking out timely updates etc..

I wonder if the reason Sprint is not pushing the update, is because of the merger with T-Mo?

Sprint doesnt push the updates..the Manufacturer does..Sprint only tests them on their side and reports back if its good to go or if problems were found..

 

for the record this is how its done with EVERY carrier..only devices that dont really get tested the same way are the Google/Pixel/Nexus type phones and Apple devices...

 

this was literally said on the page prior to this one..and this thread is only two pages long including your post that made it kick to page two.
