The latest development to the user outrage with Motorola discontinuing further developments to release an updated OS for our devices can be found on CNET covered by Casey Newton and Roger Cheng - Android users outraged over Motorola's broken promise [here]
According to their VP of Product, Punit Soni: "...Motorola supports unlockable bootloaders -- but that in some instances, the company is facing concerns from the carriers. When those concerns are assuaged, it will gladly provide the bootloaders to individuals."
So the ball now is in Sprint's court now correct? Sprint customer service reps, could you shed some light about this matter for us Photon 4G users and let us know what the next course of action is to grant Motorola permission to release the unlocked boot loaders and ICS/JB drivers for our devices?
Well, at least Soni replied to somebody....
Please Sprint, permit us to unlock our bootloaders. The Photon Q is unlockable, so please consider us downtrodden poor souls who have been left by tbe roadside with our Photon 4G's that aren't even a year old.
Heck, our phone was unlocked until a few months ago.
It was only unlockable because a unlock leaked out of Motorola, reason why it only partially unlocks (no 4g)
