My i680 WILL NOT recognize my computer (or vise versa). It will charge via the micro usb just fine when charging from the wall. The problem is when I attach to my computer, It will not recognize each other. Is there a setting that I need to change? I know the cord is good as it charges my phone from the wall and I can use it to plug my wifes phone into her lotus and it works fine thru her usb ports. Someone PLEASE tell me what I need to do. This is my 3rd i680 and was hoping with the upgrade it would fix the problems but I CANNOT UPGRADE !!!!!. I have tried 2 different micro usb data cables and IT WON'T work.........someone please, before this phone becomes a long distance projectile.
It may need to be set in the "Connections" menu to "Data Modem Access". I couldn't get the PC to recognize my brother's i680 with iDEN Phonebook Manager until I set it to that. then it worked fine. I haven't done my upgrade yet, as I haven't had time. To access the "Connections" menu, go Settings> Connections> USB.

Thanks but that is the FIRST thing I tried. I even tried a reset to defaults and then to data modem access again. It simply will not recognize the computer (or vise-versa),,,, Am so tired of this nextel piece of crap.....
If you had uninstalled drivers or are loading for the first time;
Disconnect i680 from computer, install iDEN Phonebook Manager R01.03.07 first before connecting i680 handset back to PC.
Please make sure you set your i680's USB connection to "Data Modem"
Attach handset with microUSB cable, allow your Windows PC to install the iDEN Modem drivers, P2k modem drivers using normal Windows Install Wizard (it should find the appropriate SW if you select install automatically).
If it finds your phone then go here to get the latest upgrade;
This applet will install USB files and drivers for your iDEN phones to your Windows based PC, including Windows Vista
Continues to say "unable to enable Data modem using USB connection"..... About to the end of my patience. Thanks for all the assistance. I think it is time to make another trip to nextel/sprint. One thing for sure...there won't be a #4 i680, actually there probably won't be another sprint/nextel !!!!!!
My i680 wont upgrade the firmware and the phone book manager doesnt work but I can charge and I can use AT commands on the USB modem in the driver manager to identify the modem. Windows Vista 32-bit.
Seems the new iden phones are radically buggier with the USB cables than I have ever seen before.
