I am vacationing in Atlanta today, and the 3G here is very poor. I am getting speeds of 42-112 kbps, which is less than to less than twice dial-up speeds. I thought Atlanta was a Network Vision city, as in with improved performance. Instead it seems more like under construction. At least I am getting 4G in the area where I'm staying, so I'm good for now most of the time, but when I drive around (because 4G (WiMAX) coverage is so poor, even in Atlanta), I can't seem to do much of anyting on the 3g network.
Atlanta is a Network Vision city, but not every tower is upgraded yet so you're not going to see improvements unless you're within range of an upgraded tower. Towers in urban areas only cover roughly 1-2 miles or less, so you have to pretty much directly under the tower to receive signal. Right now fast speeds and LTE are hit and miss and they will be until more towers are upgraded.
