Thanks for posting with us.  Sorry to hear that service isn't quite what it used to be.  Can you provide your zip code and whether you are using a Nextel or Sprint phone so we can take a look into this for you?  When did service start to degrade? Have you called in about your issues already?

Re: Has your service changed

I am on the understanding that you have people out there making changes to Sprint/Nextel and are doing away with the Nextel service and that is why we are having this problem and if this is so then its going to happend all over the state,is this what the right answer as to why we are having this problem?

Re: Has your service changed

Thanks for the help Ray, sorry for the delay wbye68, I had left for the weekend by the time you had responded.  To answer your last question - yes and no.  Your current issues are caused by the network issues Ray addressed above - not by the Nextel network being decommissioned.  However, Sprint is working towards migrating the Nextel frequency onto the Sprint services over the next 18 months.  The first part of the process is to remove redundant Nextel towers in different market segments.  At this time, it does not have any affect on Sprint users as the Sprint towers and Nextel towers are independent.

This will have an impact on your service/coverage once we start to service the Sprint towers in your area and convert them to the new Network Vision towers (Which will incorporate the 800Mhz frequency Nextel currently runs).  Because each cell site is getting all new equipment and changing the way we deliver the service, a temporary degradation in services can be experienced - causing an increase in dropped or blocked calls and possible audio quality issues.

For more information on the Network Vision project, you can visit www.sprint.com/networkvision

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,

David

Re: Has your service changed

Well David, that put some light on whats been going on Thank You for the info, just so you know at this time and point I do believe my cell service is up and working just fine and I will try and remember this so when they start working on the sprint towers I might have some problems like this then, it would be nice if sprint would let us know when they are in our area working to convert the towers to the new Newwork Vision towers so we will know whats going on to avoid all this mess again.

Thanks,Warren

Re: Has your service changed

Same here, getting worse and worse. Sprint only tells me upgrades are happening, for months. meanwhile I'm stuck with barely usefull service from Sprint. They won't help at all.  The latest was me missing a phone interview because Sprint decided not to work. I got the voicemail 3 houirs later, needless to say i didn't get that job.

Everytime I call they are working on towers, for the past 2-3 months.

Re: Has your service changed

All I can say is....WOW! If, in the future, we are going to experience degraded service/moredropped calls from what the service is now, we may as well throw our phones in a drawer and

wait for Sprint to go out of business. I can't phathom any worse service than I have had since going with Sprint. Sprint has made many bad business decisions lately, so why would I

think anyone there would improve. Another thing, why are all the "small" servcies piggy backing on Sprint's network? Worst network, all (I think) of the monthly plans use it. Could possibly

be a money maker, at the real Sprint users expense.

Finally, a Sprint representative who is actually honest about the current state of the network. What you didn't say though was that by "degradation" you actually meant "virtually unusable". I won't even use any data services on my phone right now unless I'm connected to wifi.
