Is Sprint 4G LTE REALLY available in Atlanta?

Re: Is Sprint 4G LTE REALLY available in Atlanta?

I got 4G briefly as I exited 675 to 75 south.  Performance was 15-17MB down with 7-8MB up.  That was it.  Nothing as I drove through Lilburn, Snellville and Stone Mountain and nothing on 78 or 285.  Looks like we still have a bit of a wait.  Also, signal strength has not improved outside the 4G area.  Still mostly 1-2 bars with the occasional full strength when parked under a tower.

Cheers,

Re: Is Sprint 4G LTE REALLY available in Atlanta?

I've made reports to customer service and have yet to receive a useful answer.

I did, around 9 AM this morning, get about 5 minutes of 4G right near Turner Field on my Evo4GLTE. Two hours later, in the same spot, smack in the middle of downtown, outside, no 4 G. And still none in East Point, Riverdale or Jonesboro.

I actually got a 4G signal at the intersection of Boulevard and Freedom Parkway, getting 11MB down and 7MB up. The signal died out as I went up Freedom Parkway, towards Ponce. At the same intersection about 30 minutes later, I was only getting 3G with .25MB down and .3MB up.

This 4G LTE is weird...bc according to the repots the city I live in shouldn't have 4G..But i live in Cartersville Ga and in my house I get 4G..but once I get into the city of Cartersville I cant find 4G...and I be in Kennesaw, Marietta and Atlanta a lot and haven't seen 4G light up yet. I work in College Park and dont see it here either...very weird but glad im not the only one having these issues..oh yeah i have the EVO LTE

Re: Is Sprint 4G LTE REALLY available in Atlanta?

Week #2 and still have no 4G in Midtown or at work in Chamblee/Mercer. Saturday, all Sprint services went out. I could not call, receive calls or text anyone. I finally got through to a customer service rep after 12 hours of no service in Midtown, she said she was not aware of any outage etc.

I pressed her on the LTE issue, and she admitted that the company did not know that the rollout was going to be such a failure, they thought it would just turn on like they said they would do, but they have been having technical issues across all launch cities. She said that Atlanta should be fully LTE at the very latest in a month, but most likely much sooner than that. Who knows.

Hi RenoRich1,

I am sorry to hear that you have a couple of poor experiences with us recently. If there is anything our Social Care team can try to help you with, please don't hesitate to reach out to them at sprintcares@sprint.com.

Regarding your 4G LTE coverage, this is an exciting time to be with Sprint because we launched LTE in several markets on July 15. The coverage will not be comprehensive at first, but it should increase steadily and be completed in a matter of months. Rest assured, we have teams working diligently to build our all-new 3G and 4G networks.

Thank you for your patience! We appreciate your business and look forward to providing our customers with a better overall performance as our improvements roll out across the country.

Re: Is Sprint 4G LTE REALLY available in Atlanta?

yes... you have to remember that it was launched in the atlanta market at roughly 40%...you also have to remember that the atlanta market area isnt just for atlanta...its actually MUCH larger than just atlanta..a couple cities if i remember right..so 40% across THAT large of an area...im sure you can picture it tower wise..

there was another thread that had multiple people posting their LTE speeds from the atlanta area...unfortunatley that thread went ninja cuz i cant find it anywhere.

Re: Is Sprint 4G LTE REALLY available in Atlanta?

Yes, Sprint 4G LTE is really in ATL.  I live on the Southside of ATL, work in Vinings, and I can confirm 4G LTE is available in some areas.  Now it does seem to fade in and out at times, and I can't explain that...  It also doesn’t seem consistent from day to day.

I have the EVO 4G LTE.  Stock phone, no root, not funny business.  All I've done to it is put a TPU case on it.  Preordered it, and received it on 5/24.  Well I'm now on my 2nd EVO LTE…  First one had a bad prox/light sensor...

Here are the confirmed places in ATL I have picked up 4G LTE (and I haven't traveled all around ATL since launch date, and these are just my experiences):

*Intersection of Riverdale Road and Phoenix Blvd (Riverdale)

*Intersection of Old National Hwy and Godby Rd (College Park)

*Intersection of Old National Hwy and Flat Shoals Rd (College Park)

*Intersection of Flat Shoals Rd and Feldwood Road (College Park)

*Intersection of Old National Hwy and 138 - Jonesboro Rd (College Park - at least I think its still CP - could be Jonesboro or Fayette, but you if you’re in the ATL, you know what I mean)

*Intersection of Riverdale Road and Flat Shoals Rd (Riverdale)

*Intersection of Tara Blvd and Mt. Zion Rd (Riverdale)

*Intersection of Mt. Zion Rd and Mt. Zion Pkwy - near AMC 24 Southlake Theater (Morrow)

*Intersection of 138 - Jonesboro Rd and Mt. Zion Pkwy (Jonesboro or Morrow - think Jonesboro)

*Intersection of 138 - Jonesboro Rd and Upper Riverdale Rd (Riverdale)

*Passing the Camp Creek exit going 285 S - the 4G on my phone activates sometime

What I mentioned above were just major intersections or landmarks for you all.  Of course, I got LTE in those general areas.  Like I said, it does fade in and out.  I can drive through 2 stop lights and it will fade out sometimes.  I don't have an explanation for those instances...

For those of you in ATL who want to know more, I've decided to go in depth for you below.  I know LTE can be hard to find, so I just want to ease you mind and give you my perspective.  I want you to see exactly what I encountered.  I did nothing special...

I normally go near a window to run 4G tests at my job.  I work in a high rise that's surrounded by other high rises in Vinings.  I consistently ran 20+ (even 30+) just standing by the window.  Last Fri after seeing Batman at AMC 24 (see above) and walking to my car, I checked my phone and the 4G icon was on.  I decided to run a quick Speed Test.  It was in the high 20's up...  I opened Open Signal and saw the Tower was really close.  I actually pulled up right to it...  It's behind some local businesses...

On the way home I pulled into the J.R. Crickets parking lot at the intersection of Tara Blvd and Mt. Zion Rd.  I hit airplane mode, and then turned airplane mode off.  The 4G came on (and never went off until I drove about 2 miles down the road) and I ran a quick Speed Test.  This one almost hit 30 up.  For those of you not familiar with the area, there is a J.R. Cricket’s, Folks, & Red Lobster there.  I slowly drove around the parking lot and found a couple of sweet spots.  LTE was booming...  I consistently ran tests in the low 30's.  I ran my highest test of 34.56 up, and 16.11 down.

Also LTE was booming on the near Evander Holyfield’s home (well former home since the bank foreclosed on it).  His former home is at the intersection of Old National Hwy and 138 (Jonesboro Rd).  I pulled into the parking lot of the plaza where Club Ritz, Mc Donald’s, BOA, and the 50 Yard line are…  Yes, this was also on Fri night.  Ran a few tests...  I consistently got close to 30 up.  I decided to drive down a road (about a mile) from where his home is (Westbridge Rd).  I was running Speed Test's the entire time.  None were all that impressive until I hit one neighborhood (never been - but it's off Westbridge Rd.)  Driving by, the Speed Test was in the high 20's.  Pulled in and never ran a test below 30 up!!!  NO LIE!  Maybe b/c the neighborhood is newer and doesn't have tall trees?!  LTE was booming, just booming…

I purposely drove by the same areas on Sat night.  I barely got LTE, and it was less than 2 up and down.  I confirmed this at two sites.  Guess they're still testing it out...

So to summarize, LTE is in ATL.  It just seems to be spotty and not consistent day to day.  Then again, we are in week 2 of the rollout, and from what Sprint says, the ATL rollout is not near complete.  Below are my top two Speed Tests, and I've included a link to Dropbox so you can see the Speed Test results for yourself.  I've been impressed with what I've seen thus far, and it's exceeded my expectations.  Let’s just hope this is a sign of good things to come.

Re: Is Sprint 4G LTE REALLY available in Atlanta?

I 285 N this morning driving into work at 8:30 am.  South Cobb Dr exit area...  Had a consistent 4G LTEsignal all the way from Hollowell Pkwy up to Paces Ferry Rd exit...  It's on now for those of you in the area...
