Sprint HTC Evo coverage in Montreal in Canada

My husband is flying to Montreal in Canada in a couple of weeks and I wanted to check if his coverage will be affected.  Will we be charged more if he makes any phone calls to the US when he's over there?  I'm trying to figure out if he'll need to get another phone just for that trip.  He has the HTC Evo 4G.  We currently have a family shared plan with unlimited data. Please help.  He's leaving on Nov. 13. Any information on this will be helpful.  Thanks in advance!
