Why would SPRINT keep pushing out new 4G phones when there is no 4G service

Why would SPRINT keep pushing out new 4G phones when there is no 4G service for them to use? I live in the metro-Detroit area and was "pushed" to a 4G phone.  I've traveled several places and turned on my 4G and nothing!!!!!    So why keep pushing those phones to your customers?

Did the Sales reps tell you that 4G had not yet launched in the Detroit area?  Sprint is continuing to roll out the 4G network, you can sign up to be notified of when it becomes available in your area at http://sprint.p.delivery.net/m/p/nxt/4G/PreReg.asp?INTCID=eS:4G:20110315:4G.

I personally would buy one of the 4G phones even if I couldn't yet get 4G speeds.  In my mind, the overall functionality of those phones is superior to the other 3G smartphones.

If you're still within 30 days of activation, you can return and replace it for a 3G phone if you'd like.  See http://www.sprint.com/returns.  Also note that there may be a restocking fee.
