I asked a rep. in a booth in Plaza las Americas and he said that Sprint is making improvements in it's infrastructure and that it will be finished in the first quarter of 2012. Let's see what happens, because Sprint's fees a expensive and if they don't improve, I will consider switching. That's all I know about this subject.

Sprint IS and will be making improvements to its network through an already publicly announced strategy called Network Vision http://newsroom.sprint.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=2064 . This initiative being worked 2012 through 2013.  4G in Puerto is not going to happen. Better pony up near some WiFis and bigger GBs and crank that Ricky Martin. bailamos.

oh, and show me how Sprint is more expensive than the other national competitors out there, ATT and Verizon.  Would love to also see how their unlimited data plans match up.

Well if they had stayed with WiMax PR should have been up and running with 4G.. but since the WiMax network is not going anywhere , you will have to wait for a new rebuild for LTE.  And the one who was told by a rep that the service is going to be up and running in Q1 2k12... get real that's just a sales person trying to get his commision IMHO.   Even the coverage map shows  Sprint plans for PR  are within the next 6 months!!.. reason why I already left to AT&T since my contract is already over.  It doesn't makes any sense commit to a new contract when at least you'll have a 1/4 of its duration plagued by poor call and even crappier data. The reason I'm still here active in the forums is that I still have 3 lines under contract and I can't wait for them to expire. By the way  AT&T LTE is running smoothly  at  8Mbps / 8Mbps with peaks of over 13-15 Mbps in some places. =))) and call quality is excellent.

PREFIERO PAGAR UN POCO MAS EN AT&T PERO TENER MEJOR COBERTURA, POCAS O NINGUNA DROP CALL CON BUENA VELOCIDAD 3G O 4G. CADA CUAL PAGA POR LA DATA QUE CONSUME, ESTOY CANSADO DE PAGAR EN SPRINT POR UN MAL SERVICIO Y SOBRE TODO LA DATA DE LOS HEAVY USER (SON LOS QUE SOBRECARGAN LA RED). ESTOY PENDIENTE PARA PROXIMAMENTE PORTAR MIS NUMEROS.

i have been a customer for 8 years, and sprint has been mediocre ,but right now i hate doing business with srint, data peed is 0.1 on speed test and my calls drop all the time.

Exito siempre!!

this will get worse on March 1 AT & T to stop providing CDMA, we are offering customers of Centennial changing equipment and honor the plan that had no credit check, deposit or renewal of contract. All of Puerto Rico will suffer for lack of planning Sprint, calling customer service, they indicated that according to zip code everything is fine, insisting tell you a small breakdown, but the reality of us in Puerto Rico the equipment on hand is that there are few places with good coverage, the 3G has a similar speed to dial up, 4G? actually exists in Puerto Rico? Executives must take action on the matter (provide monthly discounts or exempt from paying penalty for termination of contract) before users make a request to the FCC or federal court.

Re: when are we going to have 4g in puerto rico?

Several poonts to make here. I was with Sprint for 11 years and just recently bailed. I had a phone and aircard which were costing me $200 a month. My average download speeds were 150 kilabits and I averaged about 12 dropped calls a day. I finally gor sick of it and switched to T Mobile for the phone $85 a month and an ATT aircard $50 a month. that give s me 10Mg a month "real"high speed data. I have had speed tests as high as 12Mbs average around 7. Cheaper, faster, better. Sprint really doesn't care about PR. Actually they do have 4G already hot here. They either don't know or were told to say no. Go to sensorly.com download and check PR for the areas (a large part of Hato Rey is one) that are already 4G (I got speedtests of around 7Mbs)

This is not a Sprint Response below.

Puerto Rico improvement to 3g and there new LTE Network (Network Vision) was ask in this facebook fan page http://www.facebook.com/#!/S4GRU there website is http://s4gru.com/ This was the reply from the page which has nothing to do with Sprint.

"We are in the middle of a long serie...s of Network Vision announcement articles we received from internal sources in Sprint and it's Network Vision partners. We will be announcing Network Vision markets, dates and info long in advance of Sprint official announcements.

As for the Puerto Rico/Virgin Islands market, it is being handled by Samsung for Sprint. We are not ready to announce this market, yet. But it will be announced by S4GRU in the next few weeks. So stay tuned! I think Puerto Ricans will be happy with the attention they will be getting from Sprint with this deployment relative to other markets."
