Interesting, I travel throughout Atlanta and found it to be fairly speedy in most places where only 3G is available. Obviously I have a 4G device and I don't drop to 3G that often but when I do it really hasn't been an issue. Atlanta and parts of FL have been pretty good considering all the issues Sprint has had in other parts of the country. Add the fact Atlanta will be one of the first Sprint LTE markets and I'd say Atlanta is one of the better Sprint markets. Now Las Vegas and CA ... shiver. Not good at all on 3G.
I am in Atlanta and I have grown sick of the dialup 3g speed. I mean it was getting bad, but towards the end my download was averaging .10-.20mbps I have been with Sprint since 1999 and finally ported out to Verizon. The difference is night and day. My 3g speeds average 1.5mbps and my 4g is 20mbps.
Like others, I was happy with unlimited but what good is it when your unlimited is useless.
i had been getting lousy 3g data speeds all day (20-30kbps), even after updating prl and profile. now, here at 3am, updated profile 1 last time and am now getting 1.1 mbps download and about 550kbps upload . (mcpherson, ks)
I hope someone can point me to place in sprint.com where I can find speed limits.(Ts/Cs, agreement anything)
Something like this:
|Network tape||Download speeds between||Upload speeds between|
|3G/1xrtt||50-70 Kbps||50-70 Kbps|
|EVDO||400-700 Kbps||50-70 Kbps|
|EVDO Rev A||600 Kbps peek up to 3.1Mbpsing to 3.1 Mbps||350-500 Kbps peek up to 1.8Mbpspeaking at 1.8 Mbps.|
Those are all pretty much the same hours of the day which obviously aren't the peak hours of your area because everyone here knows damn well that those speeds aren't the norm for Sprint. Try doing some tests at varying times and then we'll see if you're still happy.
@Sporndog, welcome to the club!
I am in Louisville,Ky as well. This issue was been in the works sense october of 2011. A true nightmare. Last week I was told that they would be building a new tower to remedy this issue in our area by the end of March 2012. They issued me a credit of 140 dollars and said that it was quite generous of them to do so.
This after replacing my new Nexus S 4g with a obviously refurbished phone and me paying 170 dollars a month for my line and my wifes line.
Sprint needs to get their act together cause its looking nice on other carriers .. and those other carriers have 4g in my area!!!
Our average down is 100 and average up is 70-200...... wtf?
I was even told by one rep that I am in a vortex area and can not get he signal needed. Another rep told me that my phone was not ment to watch youtube or stream other audio or video..... Do they drug test their employees?
