Don't you love it when you get to cut in line and go right to the front. Having a Nexus device is like having FastPass+ for Android.
If you recall, back in December I was blogging about the cool features of KitKat that just came to the Nexus 5. Here we are in June and the Nexus 5 has been issued the KitKat 4.4.4 update just days after release from Google.
Technically, the Nexus 5 has been issued two updates in June. The first was KitKat 4.4.3. KitKat 4.4.4 was released within a few days due to a security vulnerability discovered after release. Here are the details of the latest updates.
Updates the device to Android 4.4.3
Enable Sprint Spark band 26 and band 41
Miscellaneous Android Updates
Updates the device to Android 4.4.4
The updates are not incremental. If your Nexus 5 is still on KitKat 4.4.1 then it's best to check and download the latest firmware, KitKat 4.4.4. You can find instructions for checking your firmware and updating here.
With the Nexus line of devices you don't have to wait for updates and patches to be issued from Google to the device OEM, then from OEM to the carrier, then from carrier back to Google for distro. You get updates as soon as Google releases them. No waiting in line.
