I am getting horrible 4G speeds in downtown Salt Lake City (84111 zip). This has been going on for a while now.
I get full 4G bars, so it's not a signal issue.
Here are some speed tests to show you just how bad they are (on my Evo). These were all done from downtown Salt Lake. I tried a different server on a couple to see if the results were any better. They weren't.
I do get decent speeds in other areas, and even intermittently get good speeds in downtown Salt Lake. But this dial up speed over 4G (most of the time) needs to be fixed.
Can someone at Sprint look at this please?
I don't know the date this all started, but here is the earliest speed test that I saved. You can see the date on it is 10/11/2010, so over a month ago. And it, like all of my speed tests (in this thread), was done with full 4G bars on my Evo, from downtown Salt Lake (84111 zip code).
I have many more speed tests than this. In the interest of keeping this thread simple, I will only post the most recent result (at the time of this posting), along with the oldest result that I have saved. I will also include a result where I tried a different server (Austin, TX- the one the speed test app defaulted to) even though the actual test was done from downtown Salt Lake.
Also, to Sprint support... If you leave me a voice mail and ask me to email you, please spell out the address phonetically. When you don't, all of the letters sound the same (d, e, v, c, t, p, etc). Also, I never got any "Original test email" so please stop asking me to reply to this fictional email. As you can see by my latest speed test (done today), this issue is not resolved. You keep sending me voice mails asking me to reply to an email that I never received, and you keep asking me to send you an email directly- but I have tried every combination of letters I can think of and apparently still haven't got it right. Please spell the email address out phonetically because all of the letters sound the same (e, c, v, d, t, p, etc).
So here is my daily speed test. As always, this was done from downtown Salt Lake (84111 zip code) with full 4G bars on my Evo. I used a different server this time (about 40 miles away from downtown Salt Lake) but my physical location is still downtown Salt Lake (84111 zip code).
Yep, same here. For the last 6-7 weeks 4G has been so slower than 3g. I use to get 3-4.5mbps, now i get 100-300kbps! Often it crawls like yours at 1-10 kbps. Its here or miss to get up to 1-2.5 mbps but its unreliable. So I can really only use 3g which is 300-600 kbps and on ocassion 1mpbs. I see others in Dallas having the same problems but with 3g as well. C'mon Sprint, get it fixed quick or lose out...If Clearwire can't keep up, get something else or we will get something else. Where is my $10 fee going? I don't get premium data, so i shouldn't pay the extra fee.
So here is my daily speed test. It was a little better today. It still wasn't what you would expect with "4G" but at least it was better than dial up (more like a 3G download with 4G upload). As always, this was done from downtown Salt Lake (84111 zip code) with full 4G bars on my Evo.
I'm sorry to hear your speeds are so slow, but I have to say that this is funny as all get out. Who would have thought that Sprint's pathetic excuse for "4G" would be this pathetically slow?!? I honestly wouldn' t have. The thing that I find most disturbing (though I'm used to it coming from Sprint) is the sheer LACK of any response from any Sprint rep. It's as if Sprint simply doesn't care. Ah well, just more proof that anything affiliated with Sprint will fail...
Can you say, Sprint continues to commit a major face plant?!?
