Do you have the Total Equipment Protection? That's optional, but you get signed up for it automatically. You can remove it if you want.

You are being charge $84.00 because of taxes and surcharges.

Re: Plan is $69 but being charged $84 per month?

Taxes and Surcharges are not included in the price of the plan because they vary wildly from place to place. For example here in AZ they average about $5 per phone, regardless of hte size of the account. However, I've heard of some other states where it is ~$15 for the account (number of phones doesn't make much of a difference). It depends on how the taxes and such for that particular area are required to be calculated. Surcharges are going to be nearly identical from place to place and aren't required to be collected, but are collected by Sprint to offset costs imposed by a number of different things (anything from providing E911 service, to the Universal Services charge, to Administrative charges).

There are very few carriers who include the taxes and surcharges in the cost of the plan itself. All of the major carriers have the plan cost, and the taxes and surcharges are added on separately depending on what they are for your area.

Please log online and look at your electronic bill. It delineates what you're being charged for. Log onto: SPRINT.COM > Go to: MY ACCOUNT > Click On: VIEW MY BILL.You'll find every damn thing there.

Here's a sample of where other charges may come from other than your $69.99 Service Plan:

LineServicePriceComment
1Everything Data Plan$69.99Service Plan
2Premium Data (4G)$10.00REQUIRED - if and only if you carry a 4G phone i.e. HTC Evo, iPhone4, etc.
3Protection Plan$7.00OPTIONAL - may be removed via online/person.
4Surcharge Fees$2.54(Surcharge Fees if California resident - Costs will NOT be the same for every State, they differ)
5Government Fees & Taxes$3.32(Gov't Taxes & Fees if California resident - Costs will NOT be the same for every State, they differ)
6HYPOTHETICAL TOTAL 1$92.85with Premium Data/Protection Plan
7HYPOTHETICAL TOTAL 2$82.85with Protection Plan
8HYPOTHETICAL TOTAL 3$75.85no Premium/Protection Plan

With that said it just makes more sense that you might just be paying for the Protection Plan, Surcharge, and Government Taxes/Fees. If you add Lines 1, 3, 4, and 5 it almost comes up to $84 (See Line 7). You just probably live in a different State where they may charge more or less in taxes thats all).

If you have a cheap phone remove your protection plan. Your bill will come up to more or less around $75/month.
