Example of horrible battery

Barely used it, slept overnight and look at the battery life

This is just sad for a phone. Very disappointed.

well, you have two things going on there.  #1, you are experiencing Loss of Signal and that murders battery life as reported in various other threads - and they are very close to solving.  #2 Your phone is also "awake" a ton.  Mine looks nothing like this.  The long bar for awake was when I was streaming Pandora for an hour or so.  I suspect you have some issues.  I'd suggest returning it for a new device.

Yeah, there are a few threads about it. Just crazy that so many people get these problems and there has been no fixes yet. Seem the Devs on XDA will solve this faster than Samsung/Sprint support.

May be a dumb question - but what app do you use to capture this data (I go to battery usage and it is only percentage)? Also, my display is always highest. Is that because I am using it when checking mail, internet, games, etc? Thanks

I use this and then click usage

Then click the graph on the top and it shows it.

No extra apps needed:

Menu -> Settings -> About Phone -> Battery Usage -> then click on the top graphic.  To save a screen shot, use the home button and the power button together (have to start pressing the home button a split second before the power button so the screen doesn't go off).  It saves the image in a folder called screen_capture and it will show up in your Gallery.

Also, just so people know. You CAN buy extra batteries now for this phone.  They are only $18.81 each and apprently these are true OEMs according to XDA folks.  I ordered mine and I can report back when it arrives.

UtimateJuice Defender, its costs some money in market but it's totally worth it.  I get a full days use and I'm a very heavy user ie music, apps, downloads, emails, texting etc.

Right now I'm at:

Android OS: 37%

Android system 20%

Display: 19%

Cell standby: 8%

Phone Idle: 5%

android core apps: 3%

appstore: 2%

email: 2%

Taken off the charger at 8am it's now 3:20pm I have 62% battery left and that will last me until about 10pm tonight.

My settings on juicedefender are:

controls: data wifi (preferred, auto disable

schedule: schedule 1h, night 12am-7am

triggers: battery 15%, screen (ignore on low battery), traffic 200kb/30s, 30s min

and I have a lot of abbs enabled for screen off im's, emails, music etc

I had one really bad day of battery life after getting juicedefender and I just did a battery pull letting battery stay out 30 seconds and I charged the phone again and it went back to excellent battery life.

Hope this helps!

Are you talking about the Android OS, or another battery monitoring program? My Epic 4G says "Battery Use" and there is no graphic at top to click on - at least none that I can see, other than the individual percentage graphs (Display, Cell Standby, etc.). And what exactly do you mean by "click"?

Thanks!

DefZenMaster - It is the battery usage section on the phone. The graph can be seen if you touch on the section at the top of the screen where the time is. It switches to a graph when you touch it (didn't know this myself until pointed out).

Thanks for the reply, but I must be doing something wrong then. When I touch the time only my notification pull down bar shows up, but no graph.
