12/7: Sprint has finally released via OTA EK02 which should hopefully fix the LOS issues. Samsung also released the kernel source today - and from the looks of it, they also fixed a bunch of other issues Sprint won't admit to (or maybe they didn't know about....).
9/29: Shane_M has responded from Sprint with this message:
"The loss of signal issue is an official known issue, Sprint and Samsung are aware of this issue and it will be addressed in a maintenence release. This information is posted on our known issues board and should be accessible by any care or technical support representative you speak with."
This is a growing problem - did a quick search and didn't find anything in here....
The issue is the phone will go into "No Signal" mode randomly and the only way to get out of it is to reboot the phone. Happens when in sleep mode; with and without wifi on; standing on your head; kissing your wife. Here are the messages spouted in Logcat when it happens:

Its the 6 digits when you activated your phone that you would use to program your phone manually.
If the OTA activation diddnt work, then you would have to type ##XXXXXX# where XXXXXX is your MSL.
Otherwise you can get it easily If you are rooted, you can download a terminal program, then type in the terminal the command "getprop ril.msl"
Or just call sprint and ask the representative to give you the MSL (Master Subsidy Lock) to your phone.
Hello Random933, an authenticated account holder (main person on account, who provided PIN or security answer) can request the MSL provided the account is in good standing. if you intend to use it to change your secondary home agent from 68.28.xxx.76 to 0.0.0.0 then you may want to reconsider as this will not increase your data speeds (variance in speedtest will be present regardless), and will increase your likelihood of seeing data connection failures.
I just experienced my first LOS and it happened back to back. My internet connection all of sudden got really slow signal went from two to zero then phone froze up and LOS sign came up. Both times, the sign would go away and phone seems to resolve it without me rebooting and signal is at a steady four bars at the moment.... weird please get this fixed. I don't want to return this phone
The issues are the Loss of Signal and slow data speeds also i put in the incompatible of the new Youtube update.
The People at Sprint do not care or do not know

Just went with my friend to get his new Iphone 4s (att). Just out of curiosity, I ran speed test on his new 3g iphone and compared it to my 4g Epic Touch. The speeds matched at 3.5mbps.
My 3g wouldn't even connect.
I guess Apple knew what it was doing, when it didn't bother rushing to a 4g iphone.
I haven't been able to lock my gps all afternoon. I think that I am done with this Samsung hobby.
It's a real shame, given how nice the phone actually is.
My girlfriend and I also experiance LOS a few times a day. Samsung/Sprint, PLEASE fix this issue. Don't ruin this almost perfect phone. AT&T and Tmobile GS2 owners do not have this problem. I've been a loyal customer for some years now without a contract and would hate to have to trade up.
What a great morning this was! Crash on I95 stuck in traffic tring to call work to let them know I will be late and why, and my phone will not get out of this!
It took me 3 power downs to finally get a signal. I drive the same route everyday streaming Pandora, so it is not a lack of signal issue.
So aggitated I went to my Sprint store, a Tech said it's a known issue and he could do further diags on the phone if I wanted him too, but suggested that I wait for Samsung to push out a update. I have been waiting for that damn update since September!
Yea, I was on the phone for a couple of hours, trying to just return this unit. They won't let me, as i am outside the return window. They will, however, continue to charge me for a phone, which doesn't work.
I can, as an alternative, go to the sprint store and swap my new unit for a refurb. Of course, I will have to repurchase the skin protector for 16 bucks, as reward for keeping the unit protected.
That's not to say that the new phone won't have the same issues. I guess I will roll the dice and see how much more of my time I can invest into this.
OK, so I went to the sprint store. I explained to the "tech" guys what the problem was. I had a generated ticket before I went in, so they should have known what was going on.
I explained the problems and they said: "it (the computer) doesn't say all that"
They went through all the resets, assuring me that their resets were special and much different than the reset customer service already had me do.
So they restarted the phone and left it for 15 minutes and as I suspected, GPS never locked.
They said that they would replace the phone for me. I said great, let's do that. Oh, we have to order you one.
GREAT!! Let's see how much of my time we can take up on this project. Ovioulsy I am sprint's %*&@# pony.
I did get compliments on the "body skin", which i bought to protect the phone. I look forward to buying another for my "now refurbed" "new" phone.
