I will be locking several threads on the Epic sub-community that all have the subject of the Android 2.2 upgrade.  Many are becoming too large and/or off-topic.  As I lock them, I will provide the links to them here as a reference.

How about that! Exact same canned  message I received a few days ago.  I read the IF word also my pluse and blood pressure increased. I replied to the message saying something like ... So, now it is IF, not when, perhaps I made a bad choice in selection of phone and carrier.  I received a reply saying.

I have also arranged a call for you. You will receive a call from Sprint by one of our specialists within the next 24 hours. You can also discuss your concerns during the call.

By Specialist I assume they mean a BS artist.

My reply to that was I did not want a professional lier to call me and blow smoke up my butt, I requested that no one call me.

Some people on this and other boards have said that Sprint is not the bad guy here it is Samsung.  Perhaps so but Sprint is the company who sold me the phone, Sprint is the company who PROMISED that 2.2 would be rleased real soon ( I puchased the phone on the day it was released)

Some one, Sprint/Samsung needs to communicate.  If I treated my customers like we are being treated I would not have a job.

I have also read a number of posts which indicate that Samsung is holding back on 2.2 for the Epic to get better sales on soon to be released phones

I sent Samsung an email with that info telling them how unhappy I was.  The only course of action I have is to never purchase a Samsung product again.  I'm sure that they could care less however if thousands of customers take that stand it may have an impact.

I have also let Sprint/Samsung know that I still have about 1.5 years left on my contract and as of now my feeling is to not renew. Once more I bet they could care less .. they sure act like it.

AND IF other Android phones get 2.3 prior to the Epic getting 2.2 I will terminate that day

OK thanks for listening the vent felt good.

I guess we are busting the right "chops" by this article

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2376045,00.asp

It appears T-mobile is getting Froyo on their Samsung galaxy tomorrow....So what is Sprints Problem?

Others are right I could update my phone on my own, but there is this pesky thing called a warrenty.

I thought orginally that the Epic was going to be first....So Once again what is up Sprint?

I bet it's this damn hardware keyboard... At least if one phone releases Froyo, that means we're that much closer to... oh who am I kidding?  Shoulda bought an Evo.

Re:

I have to disagree that complaining will not do anything. If we don't protest and complain then we have only ourselves to blame.

In America we believe that we have the right to voice our opinions and grievances. An open forum is exactly the place to complain, which is why we're all doing it.

THANKS!  great post.  If there is no protest or complaints then nothing will change.  Yes some people may be able to attempt to perform this upgrade on their own buy WHY?  And I think, from reading all of the posts, that the MAIN issue p1ssing people off is lack of communications from Sprint or Samsung.

I was going to post the same thing.

T-Mo has come clean, taking responsibility for the delay to their customers AND setting a date for the update to release.

Can Sprint do the same?

This is just a joke.... You guys don't provide update and also lock the threads we vent on.....

The T-Mobile article states that the delay was due to technical issues (not sales, etc.).  The same is true with Sprint's release...it's due to technical issues affecting the functionality of the release.  I don't know if it's Sprint's or Samsung's functionality that isn't working or even what specific feature it affects.  Regardless of whose issue it is, it's an integrated release and it can't go live until the issues are resolved.

That's all they are saying, now is it necessarily true??

I think not.  IF it were bugs in the code and problems getting all options/features to work they would have said so.  I believe they sprint/samsung are holding out on 2.2 for Epic to push sales on their new phones.  Buyers of these new phones beware ... they will not care about you once they get your money.

I would not believe a Sprint account rep if he told me today is Thursday.

That is all fine and dandy...So why not go to the press and say that....Honesty works so well! Just to point out an example of the dishonesty I have had asking about this release...I chatted with a Sprint rep thru the website...her response was "if there is an update it will not be soon" I go to my local Sprint store where I bought the phone and get told that the update is being rolled out as we speak and it could take a year for my phone to get it.

Now that seems a bit drastic. But it goes to the point we as customers are trying to make...Tell us what is going on and we are MUCH more understanding. If there is trouble get more people working on it!

I understand that - they said very clearly that they are still "testing" the release.  My question, and my reference to the article, were more to the tune of:

Will Sprint acknowledge that they have had the release and are currently working on it?  They have since done so on Twitter.  Kudos.

Will Sprint set a date for release, as T-Mobile did in their release?  Or is "ASAP" as accurate as we're going to get?
