I guess you haven't seen all of the posts related to the different ROM's that have GPS issues.  The GPS success with the different DI28 ROMs are mixed at best.  Generally, it requires that you jump through some hoops to get GPS working.  Look at the related link I placed below.  As far as I'm concerned, this doesn't seem like steps I would like the company that sold me the phone to send me through.  Notice the constant use of the term FC

(Forced Close).

http://forum.androidcentral.com/epic-4g-rooting-roms-hacks/47362-four-ways-fix-gps-problems-froyo.html

Personally, I'm guessing the GPS issue is the root of the problem.  If the unpaid geek sector (xda, androidcentral, etc.) can't seem to get it right , then it's probably a difficult issue to address.  Still, the mention (on this thread) of OTAs being the issue is compelling.  I'm not sure about the argument that Europe has the update and doesn't use OTA is sound to me.  Europe is always ahead of us in this department because their network technologies are regulated such that network hardware/software does not have to be created for different carriers... Samsung can resolve the issue once and spoon feed the carriers.  In the US, we need at least 2 different radio technologies.  I do think the mention that (from what I gathered from the post) T-Mobile seems to have abandoned OTA to get this update pushed out does seem to make for a good suspicion.

...sure there may be a small fraction if Epic users who  may be too illeterate to understand 2.2 or even know how to click next on their computer...but please do not make excuses for Sprint or Samsung by saying that the phones technology may be too complicated to "rush" an update...that is a foolish statement.

Bottom line is that 2.2 was promised...buyers had a choice with buying either an EVO  or the Epic...2.2 was being advertised on the website for both...and the Epic was being pushed by the reps/salesmen at the Sprint store...Sprint and you are being stupid by ignoring the "promise" made to consumers that an upgrade would be circulated soon.

I find it the other way.  Not everyone is Tech Savvy and know everything about every device out their let alone their own devices.  Most people would rather have it work for them than to tweak, and have the latest and greatest as long as their device works that's fine with them.  Those are the MAJORITY not a small fraction.

2.2 was promised yes, but there was NEVER a hard date as to when. People had 30 days to return their Epics, but decided to keep it based on rumors, or someone else not officially knowing when it was coming.  If not having 2.2 bothered me this much I wouldn't have purchased the Epic, and I would have bought the Evo, or waited it out for a device that would have what I "need".

...again another elitist pokes his head out his wormhole...my guess is most people who bought the Epic are tech savvy and could probably easily eat the termination fee and deal with litigation later, such as myself...I own two other phones, a contract phone and a Blackberry Torch from another carrier.

My point is we who are tech savvy know that 4G is optimized when 2.2 is utilized as opposed to 2.1....furthermore we who are in the legal field know how to reach a settlement against purveyors of bad business. So please go back to your worm hole if your football will fit.

Actually you are the one sounding like an elitist jerk by assuming everyone will know exactly what you know.  You are basing everything on YOU when everyone IS NOT YOU.  The fact of life no one will ever know everything you know.  You already stated it's your guess, and your guess isn't absolute.  There have been studies out there than majority of smart phone owners do NOT use their phones to it's full potential like the "tech savvy" people will.

I think the comment that "there was NEVER a hard date" for the Epic Froyo upgrade has come up a few times.  I disagree.  A date was given -- by GalaxySsupport on Twitter, who around early December was saying that the Epic (at least) would get Froyo by the end of the year (that's 2010).  So to the best of my knowledge, there was at least one hard date given, and they missed it.

You guys should really not pay attention to the troll that names himself tidbit.  I seem to remember him from the 3g upload issue thread.  He seems to be a gung-ho "you folks all need to quit your bitching because..." sorta jerk.  Check his last few posts, he's just going around telling people how worthless they are for complaining.  POS troll.  If you've got no issues with not having 2.2, why do you keep trolling the Epic 2.2 threads?  Because you are a POS troll.

Wait a second here.  Yall trolled me especially when you look at it in CONTEXT.

My very first post I said "I never noticed it, as I always have 4G/Wifi on when I download something.  I will test it out."(something like that), and if you go to that specific thread and read the VERY first post I made you will see it.

So tell me how that trolling?  Then someone came by, lectured me about the world, and everyone began calling me a troll.

I thought so.

Care to wager that I do not work for Sprint or Samsung in anyway shape or form.  I also do not have vested interest in those companies as well other than a customer who owns and used an Epic from the first day it was released.  In all honesty I would never work in Customer Relation it wouldn't pay me 1/2 of what I get paid now.

Like the Epic, Don't like the dis respect. Why worry about "a new online store" or "locking threads because to large/off subject" Focus on the thing everyone is complaining about! Don't care about updated website store. Focus on your customers Sprint. I know 2012, I am looong gone. Don't like being lied to "end of Sep 2.2 update" And nobody knows any news at Sprint about Froyo. Complete Disaster on your part. These Galaxy S phones are gonna put you guys under 3 other cellphone providers within the next year or 2. Can't you already see it coming? 5 months i've been BS'd so in 2012 I will remember this when you guys want me back for another 2 year contract. 10 years with Sprint, never been this unprofessional. New online store LOL. You guys change your website every 5 months. Must be nice to update it huh? Get back to the update issues bombarding the forums. Pissed Off Customer -Justin
