With only 4 months to go he would probably be paying $100 for the Upgrade Now program since its a Advance phone. (It would be $50 if it was a non-advance device). But if I am not mistaken you can only do this at a Sprint store. Not over the phone, chat etc.
I'm looking at $175 myself since i am at the 9 month left point. Plus I'm leaving AT&T and will be paying a ETF with them. But what is saving me from going financially insane is that I can buyback both Photons as well as the Note 1 and offset the total cost of 2 new Notes.
I finally find out I can upgrade early and call some 7+ stores and all are telling me that they only recieved anywhere from 1 to 6 and they are all spoken for. I don't really understand how they can all be spoken for when it was stated that there were no pre orders and no waiting lists, just 1st come 1st serve. Is it even worth me waking up early to get to another store? This is frustrating and unfair to thoses of us that were going to wait early for one.
I did they just keep telling me that the date is still not 100% yet and they dont know when I will be able to order the phone. It's like this all just one big secret and they just don't want to tell you anything. It's weird.
They just hit some stores today. Unfortunately Sprint may lose me this time around due to the price and no free upgrade or I may follow some of the others and buy at retail, move to another carrier or pre-paid to save $$ over the long run than being stuck in a 2 yr contract. Perhaps it's time to take my 16 yrs of loyalty elsewhere.
