Samsung Galaxy Note5 - Initial Review

Let me start by saying this phone is AMAZING. Simply put Samsung did not stop at nothing. They put everything but the kitchen sink in this device, but who knows you may have that too. The Note has been redesigned to now fit the form factor created for the Galaxy S6. The body is a combination of glass and metal construction. The phone has a 5.7 inch display which brings a 2560 x 1440 pixels equating to 518 pixels per inch. Total size is 6 x 3 x .03 inches. The note 5 actually is smaller than the note 4 and with its new sleek curve backing it feels even better in the hand but yet keeps the same large display.

Samsung's added changes came at some cost the battery has dropped to now only be 3000 mAh non removable battery. While the reduction in battery size has been done the utilization of the battery has remained the same. Initial review shows the battery running around 18 hours. This is within spec for average daily use. Though if you are a heavy user expect a lower use time. With a big display and packed features users will be tempted to use the phone. Why not; this phone is gorgeous. Why would you want to put it down?

Alongside the changes made with the battery Samsung has also restricted the memory. Users are now given either 32GB or 64GB of storage with no added external storage to use on the phone itself. Though who needs that much storage now with most streaming services on board is really no longer needed. And as an added benefit through an agreement with Microsoft users get 100GB of online storage through their One Drive service. This is plenty of space for those that need it. If you are a heavy picture taker pretty much all the online providers (Google, Microsoft, and Amazon) all provide free online storage content for pictures.

While Samsung has made some changes other modifications actually workout as a benefit. Take for instance the camera. Samsung has implemented the same type of camera used in the Galaxy S6. Included is the 16 megapixel 1.9 aperture rear facing camera and a 5 megapixel front facing camera. The front camera has a 120 degree wide angle visibility for those great selfie shots. You will be amazed by the picture quality this camera can bring to the table. I'm no photographer but this camera has some features to truly bring out the creative person inside.

As stated before Samsung has included everything thing it can in this device. Users can wirelessly charge their devices. No longer needed to be plugged in, your phone simply lays down on the charging pad and that's it the phone will be charged in 120 minutes. How about the new ability to now setup and broadcast your own LIVE streaming media directly to viewers of your choosing. This done through an agreement with Youtube. Gather around your family members at get together and easily connect your device to your TV to share pictures and videos captured.

The Galaxy Note 5 is so much more than your everyday phone. It is sync'd and linked to every part of your life. From personal to business. From professional to amateur. This device has something for everyone.  With the digital age this device will set you free and make you feel a part of the next wave of phones. This phone is by far the best device I have yet to use and look forward to discovering even more great things about it.
