Year in and year out, we see new and innovative devices from the world's finest tech companies. And every year, just like clockwork, Samsung introduces the next generation model of their flagship devices to entice us, mesmerize us, or dazzle us. And of course, every year, one wonders, are we really dazzled or its just meh?
I usually start my impressions with the statement "Samsung has done it again" and even though this statement is not at the start of my blog, but here it is. Samsung has done it again! What did they do again exactly? Well lets find out:
Just like last year, they just released the new Note 5. Yes it has a lot of similar features from the previous note, and why wouldn't it? But we are here to find out how they went ahead and created a great device with excellent features that one would use on a daily basis.
First, you will notice that this device, unlike its predecessors looks totally different. It is not longer built using plastic materials, in fact they took design cues from their earlier launch of the Galaxy S6 and made this device out of glass and metal. In short, the device components are sandwiched between glass with metal around the edges. There is a very natural curve on the back which makes holding this large device really easy and... natural! The phone feels sturdy and solid yet not very heavy. This is a good combination to have if you ask me.
Second, the S-Pen is redesigned and the companion app called Air Command also got a makeover. If you notice nothing else, you can now add shortcuts to any app you like. It has the usual options like Action memo, Smart Select and Screen Write on there, but they also added the wonderful S Note app right there. Again, you can add any other app like One Note or Ever Note, or a non-note app to your liking.
Third, as an extension to the S-Pen functionality, they added a feature called Screen Off Memo. When you enable this in the S Pen settings, you can write or take notes while the screen is off on a black background. I found this feature to be the best Note feature to date, and hence it required a separate mention on its own!
Finally, it sports Samsung's Exynos Octa-core Processor, so lag is a thing of the past!
There are more things to discuss but these 4 quick mentions is where I would like to start. So please go ahead and have a look, you will be impressed.
Until Next Time
