Can't set up POP for certain email account

I have an email account for which I can't set up POP on my instinct. After testing other ID's with the same domain, I believe that the problem lies with the actual name of the account. For this account, the email is the same as the domain name, like drjoe@drjoe.com. I have successfully set up identical accounts with other names such as joe@drjoe.com and test@drjoe.com. Is there something in the instinct software that may be causing this?
