Sprint does not have a partnership with Go Mobile, and therefore the phones cannot use SMS messages for IM. It really sucks because all of the other mobile providers can.

Re: Instant Messaging YES according to Samsung Site...

It IS capable for IM, but it DOES NOT have an App. Two different things. It is not false advertisement at all. It's like videogame consoles, they announced them with a lot of technical specs, they barely do half. Why? Because they are capable of doing with what they have.

Right now, go to m.live.com, and you get Windows Live Messenger.

As of now, there is no official App for IM, probably and hopefully there will be one soon, but the phone is INDEED capable.

Oh come on, that's deceptive... People look at that and think they can IM out of the box, NOT the phone is capable, hope there's an app. Myold work Blackberry said right on the box which IM providers were supported.

Word on the street is that the Canadian version of the Instinct (which shipped after the US version) came with an IM app.

Don't you mean "will come" since the phone isn't release over there yet? And if it does come with an IM app or any other app. Whats to stop us from getting it too? if they get it we get it. even if we have to sneak around to get it lol.

Well the Instinct in Canada is going to be on Bell Canada... that phone has a completely different OS than the one we have. I believe it has Windows Mobile, where as we have whatever the heck this is that Sprint threw together. I wish we were on Windows Mobile...

Re: Instant Messaging YES according to Samsung Site...

Everybody forgets the launch of the IPHONE with the First Generation launch the device had the same issue that everybody is experiencing know. the device had no Instant Messenger client therefore you had to go through the browser and finally Bee Jive and Mundu made a application for the device to Instinst Message without having to go through the browser. If you have been following the launch of the Instinct before and after you would already know that there is a contest going on for which all developers have been given the opportunity to develope software for the Instinct, The Operationg is nothing like that has been seen before Sprint and Samsung jointly came up with the specs and capabilities for this device so obviously these have to get in there and figure out the system first before launching a application currently right now Bee Jive and Mundu are both developing software for the Instinct but its not clear on when there will be a application for IM. Again the Iphone had the same problem when it first launched, it has only been ! month 5 days give it some time and if you feel the device sucks then return it but dont *bleep* about it online.</font>

Take a look at what is right above the 'Instant Messaging' disclaimer. Itshow's 'vCalendar' TOO!? If we could simply emailvCalendar events to the phone, or even place this little vCalendar files on the microSD card and read them into the Instincts calendar that would be an improvement. Here's how to do vCalendar in Outlook ref:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/287625. Maybe someone can stumble onto how to get theInstinct to do it.

I guess even Samsung can't get the information right because under the heading of 'Call Functions' it shows 'Voice Recognition' NO. Oh well, I guess the Instinct actually does 'Spoken Recognition' vice this 'Voice Recognition' thing then huh?
