Again, that has nothing to do with the Instinct.

phoneME Feature software is an open source development effort addressing the market and technical requirements of feature phone devices. The majority (about 80%) of mobile phones in the world today are feature phones. Devices of this type typically include a high-resolution screen, multiple forms of messaging (SMS, MMS, IM, Email), basic 2D and 3D gaming, a camera, music player, Internet browser, etc. - FROM THE LISTED SITE...

well if we take the firmware that was on the phone and call it MR1, then the first update we got on Jul 30th as MR2, then it stands to reason that MR3 would be the next update.

it's already been mentioned, but MR# is not specific to Sprint and this phone. It's a generic version numbering scheme.

Nice try though.

criley - I would have to argue with you about being used on a handheld - this software was and is on handheld devices. It was the flagship software for the Zaurus PDA. It is and was on many handhelds as noted above. Whether or not it is going to be on the Instinct is still up for debate. We will see on the 24th hopefully. This is really good news if it is to be on our Instincts. chadaacount: dig a little deeper into the site - I don't understand some of the language, but we could be sitting on a goldmine here by what I did find already. We would be very lucky to have this on our phones because it is an open-source product and could be tweaked and tweaked and tweaked.

let's face it - it doesn't matter how many updates WE have had through Sprint. This is a possibility and is no coincidence about the numbering. Our original update was to be called BH-29 or something. Sprint programmers might be trying to simplify and have adopted the MR-3 name as an act of that simplification process and the adoption of the different software?? We can speculate all night and, well for the next week if we want, but that is all it will be until then (if the release comes). Sprint would be smarter tomorrow if they 'leaked' that this is in fact the update we are going to get. They would win over many disgruntled customers.

No matter how much you speculate, that doesn't change the fact that the linked site has absolutley nothing to do with the Instinct, Sprint, or Samsung in any way. The update number being the same is certainly a coincidence, as anyone with a two functioning brain cells can easily see, and as people have already pointed out. I thought it was pretty amazing that one person seemed to think this was related in any way, but it's mind-boggling that two people can not only consider this a possibility, but actually be stubborn enough to argue about it after being told pretty simple reasons why they're wrong. To draw such conclusions form a simple release number is ludicrous. You might as well be arguing that when the previous upate was announced, that Sprint was going to deliver a Toyota MR2 to every Instinct owner.

Re: Interesting find concerning new browser

This has nothing to do with the Instinct.  A better tactic is to search for the firmware release - BH29 - that's Instinct specific.

MR stands for Maintenance Release, a term used by many developers and many projects.
