MR-4 Information

We anticipate an official Public Release Notes announcement of MR4 when that firmware enters certification test on 10/13 (all dates are estimates and are subject to change with no notice).  Unofficially, firmware MR4 will include:

* Java refit to better enable 4-way/OK and text input to LCDUI widget-based applications
* support for native document viewing for many popular office document types including .doc, .pdf, .ppt and others
* resolution to roughly 50 additional open tickets

Oh my God!!!!! I'll start my prayers and promises to the gods all over. Please make this happen. The first 2 items on your list are desperately needed.

Holy crap!!! 2 official Sprint notices in ONE DAY!!!

The list above makes me VERY happy. Sprint, you have made good strides in the last couple of days, I congratulate you on your effort. There is still much work to be done on the phone however (TV TV TV). I look forward to helping you make this phone what it should be.

(I'm now officially back in the Sprint camp.)

Hey Sprint, don't be a stranger around here! Remember, no news is (to us) BAD news! Just keep us informed of what's going on, that all we ask.

This is great news and I can't wait. Thanks for the heads up. I'm really reconsidering keeping this phone instead of getting a touch pro now...

Can I assume that this means Opera compatibility? Document support would be amazing...

This sounds like the update everyone has been waiting for. LCDUI means opera and a lotta other java games. And hopefully the calender thing will let us store more than 10 events. Can will confirm this?

That would be outstanding, and could help lift the bar on the Instinct with its competition!

the java support will open a window to a whole world of apps. After a keyboard update, the only thing you'll need to pay attention to is if an application is touch screen compatible (which a LOT are.)
