So after an hour of plugging in the cables and removing the battery to get back to dowload mode I called samsung, that was the first number in the udate.pdf.  They told me my usb/micro cable was the problem, I have several others I had been using as well.  Next I called sprint, the person helping me was very helpful, eventually by uninstalling every thing and reinstalling I got past the port not found screen.  I got as far as downloading updates 0% progress for over a half hour I tried it again.  I now have no phone, I'll have to take it into a service center I guess.  Maybe the insurance will pay off and I can get a different phone, I have 3 moments and all of them have problems.
