Samsung Galaxy Tab A - Processor Power - Sprint Product Ambassador
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 Tablet is a mighty fine creation brought to us by Samsung. It is referenced to have the ability to play smooth video while also having the ability to play 3D gaming. This is most in part due to the Snapdragon 810 MSM8953, Octa-Core (2.0GHz) processor. This Processor offers enhanced performance and longer battery life.
Design to offer the perfect balance between performance and power efficiency. Built into the Processor users will be thrilled to hear that it is based on the category 6 LTE modem which can theoretically handle upto 300Mbps download and 50Mbps upload. If you are in one of Sprints markets with next generation LTE you may be able to obtain this. As mentioned the Snapdragon 810 MSM8953 processor is capable of handling smooth video playback. This is an understatement as it can handle 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) @ 30 fps and can even capture FHD (1920 x 1080) up to 30 fps. As a test I perform on all devices I compare the tablet with other devices utilizing processors of similar style. Comparisons are performed 4 different processor benchmark applications (3DMARK, PCMARK, Geekbench 4, and AnTuTu Benchmark).
This CPU tester models real world tasks and application to provide feedback closer to actual performance use. It measures its calculations on overall CPU workload, Computing Benchmarks performances of the GPU, and provides a Cross-platform comparison. Geekbench provides a single core operation score along with a multicore Score. On a single-core score the Samsung Tab A Yields a 868 score. In Comparison the OnePlus 2 held an 1027 score while the closest device to our score would be the LG Nexus 5 with obtaining 859 and running a Sanpdragon 800. In regards to the Multi-core score the Samsung Galaxy Tab A had a score of 3082. The OnePlus 2 only held at 2675 and the nearest device would be the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 which came in at 3043. On the second test regarding computation rendering the Samsung Galaxy Tab A received a score of 2531. In Comparison the nearest device would be the Samsung Galaxy S6 which yielded a score of 1963.
PCMARK for Android
Utilizing the new Workbench 2.0 I measured the full performance of the entire device. From Web browsing, Video Editing, Writing, Photo Editing, and Data manipulation. Ultimately the overall score was 4578. Per PCMark no other device came close to the performance the Samsung Galaxy Tab A showed utilizing the same processor. The nearest device was the Sony Xperia Z5 which only obtained a score of 4331.
3DMark Slingshot ES 3.1 - Demo
3DMark tests the CPU and GPU performance ability. The Slingshot ES 3.1 - Demo program is extremely demanding to get the results it looks for. The applications also tests the devices rendering abilities, graphic intensive ability. It is geared for evaluating a devices ability to handle high end computations for graphic rendering and video playback. It is computed via a graphics test and a physics test to measure CPU performance. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A performed pretty low in comparison to other devices with the same processor. It yielded a score of only 473. In comparison the HTC Bolt yielded a score of 1643 and the closest device was the Sharp Aquos PAD SH-05G which had a score of 568.
Antutu Benchmark & 3DRating
This Benchmark application measures multiple layers of evaluation from memory performance, CPU integer Performance, and 2D 3D graphics Performance. Just like the previous CPU testers it yielded some interesting results. Unlike the other testers this one does not show a true device comparison but lists how the device compares to others. The overall score the Samsung Galaxy Tab A obtained was a 63847 score. For 3D rendering the device performed as mid-level device with regards to game performance. As for the CPU the Galaxy Tab A was referenced as a Mid-to-High End device with support for large apps and multitasking. The Galaxy Tab A ranked in between the LG V10 (64681) and the Iphone 5s (63559).
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A sporting the Snapdragon 810 does yield some promising results and per the outcomes does show to be a pretty competitive while in the Samsung Galaxy Tab A device. The Promise of great game play and 4K video playback is seen when testing the processors handling ability. Ultimately users will have a great experience with this device and should have no trouble multitasking.
Enjoy and remember never use your phone or tablet while driving, be safe and healthy.
