I Got Pie on My Samsung and It's Totally Different!!
The new enhancements are AWESOME!!
My phone looks great!!
HOWEVER,
I have found that when I text people and then put my phone down, the phone then CALLS the person I had just texted. I just installed the update on 1/31 at 2:00AM, and phone has been making calls since that time. PLEASE HELP!!!
After the update I have no mobile data service. Galaxy S9
Any ideas on how to fix this?
I can make and receive calls and text messages.
I've checked the to make sure everything is set to on.
Airplane Mode Off.
Mobile Data is On.
Network Mode set to Automatic.
I have restarted my phone several times.
Any help will much appreciated. Thank you!
Steve
start with a network reset.
make sure you are in a good coverage area...then pull up your dial pad and type in ##72786# . let it run through its gauntlet and see if that helps or not..if not you might have to jump to a cache/partition wipe on the phone (this is not a factory reset but you will probably have to resign back into everything once its done)...if THAT doesnt work then you will have to back up and punt and perform a factory reset to try and correct it.
LOL! I knew this was going to happen when I was reading the spec sheet. It's called Direct Call. What it is designed to do is to call the person whose message or contact details that are currently on your screen when you bring the phone to your ear. It will do that also if you place the phone face down because the sensor will think it's to your ear. You can turn it off by going to Settings-Advanced Features-Direct Call-slide off.

The network reset worked!
Thank you sir!
whalla..it somehow pulled in corrupt tower info and instead of dumping it with a restart or automatically it held onto it..the network reset flushes all that info out and forces it to look for a connection as if it were the first time it was connected to the network.
*tips hat*
just avoid doing this reset if you are in a wonky reception area...it can make things worse rather than better.

Thank you, THANK YOU, Em_Will_I_Am!!
That seems to have solved that issue.
I guess, it's . . . a worthwhile feature?
I guess?
But glad that I could disable it, since I don't have any use for that.
(Who talks on the phone anymore? I mean, except for my father!)
LOL
Thanks again!
Yeah, I was reading the release notes Friday and the first thing I said to myself was, "I hope this is not on by default." But for real, who talks on the phone except for all the females in my life.

if its anything like my life it would be family members..they ALL tend to prefer calling over just sending me a text...freakin savages!
you might have to perform the cache/partition wipe on the phone..before doing that though if you can try to wait until you leave that area in case its something going on with the tower itself and not the phone..once you are away from that area by say 5+ miles you should be on a completely different tower..then retest
