-David Owens, Sprint vice president for product realization
“We were excited to share our news on our UL Environment platinum certification at an event like the Global Green Millennium Awards. It was a great way to showcase all that Sprint does to develop, design and power sustainable solutions and to illustrate our commitment to the highest environmental standards from product design to disposal.”
Sprint proudly joined Mark Ruffalo and the other stars at this past weekend’s 15th Annual Global Green Millennium Awards in Los Angeles.
Ruffalo, an actor and activist who is well known and respected for his deep commitment to the environment, received Global Green’s Entertainment Industry Environmental Leadership Award.
Sprint was proud to help sponsor the event, which raised money to support the organization’s initiatives to rebuild a green New Orleans; to create green affordable housing and green schools in Los Angeles, throughout California and nationally; and to continue to advocate for innovative and effective policy initiatives to combat climate change.
Others who received awards or attended the event included, Orlando Bloom, Ed Begley Jr. and Wendy Schmidt.
That certification is a really big deal when it comes to promoting sustainability. The Samsung Replenish is the first mobile phone to receive such a certification and is considered the highest environmental ranking based on UL Environment’s certification requirements.
This is just the latest example showing how Sprint is a sustainability leader when it comes to environmental responsibility.
Sprint’s recycling efforts have already prevented more than 24 million phones from being tossed into landfills. Please help us, though, to meet our goal of collecting nine of every 10 phones we sell for reuse and recycling by 2017. Send in those old phones sitting in the drawer and tell your friends to do the same.
