The Tile bluetooth tracking device has a cool feature built into its network called “Community Find.” Let's get into the details...
Tile uses bluetooth to connect with your device. It then uses GPS on your device to track the location of your Tile in the app. Because of this, your Tile needs to be within 100 feet (maximum bluetooth range) of a device that has Tile running in order to keep an accurate location of the Tile. However, If you misplace your Tile and it is not within the range of your device, Tile has a feature called Community Find.
When the Tile app is run on a device, the app is looking for all Tiles within bluetooth range. So, if someone who has the Tile app running on their device passes your misplaced Tile, your Tile app will update showing the last location it was located in, and will notify you that it was located as well. In order to receive that notification, be certain to click “Notify When Found” in your app as soon as you realized you misplaced your Tile.
Community Find is secure, safe, and anonymous. People will not know your location or who you are, and vice versa.
Hopefully, you will not lose your Tile (and the item attached to your Tile). However, if you do, it is reassuring to know that there is a Community Find network (lost and found) ready to help!
