I had the ability to group text on my HTC Arrive. I just replaced that phone with the Samsung and the group messaging option is gone. Has it moved and I just don't know where it is? I saw Verizon also restricted some WP8 devices from group messaging as MMS, but have now enabled that feature. Does anybody have any idea if Sprint will follow suit? It's hard to upgrade the phone but downgrade some of the features, especially after waiting so long to replace my Arrive.
In truth this is not a WP 8 issue! Group Messaging has been a part of WP since WP7. This is a Sprint issue for not activating this feature. I know that Samsung will get the heat also but this issue can be fixed by Sprint. I have also driven myself to distraction on this issue and everything on every web site points to Sprint. In reality all of us want the WP8 Group Messaging menu item given to us (it is there - it is just not turned on for the user to choose). As customers I just want the answer, no PR, is Sprint going to step up and fix the issue for us or not?
Thank you for the feedback regarding your experience with the Samsung Ativ S Neo. I'm sorry to hear that you are having issue with group messaging. Keep in mind that Sprint is your service provider we do not manufacture any device. With every update can be little glitches that are usually solved quite easily. For the issue that you're having the best course of action is to chat with a Samsung Support representative and see if they will be able to assist: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/contact. Thank you

It kinda works. Notifications are sometimes flakey, but they usually come through and at least will leave a notification in the lock screen most of the time. Group texting is a completely different story though.
Thank you for the reply. I'm happy to hear that you are getting the notifications but I'm not finding much in the way of a fix for the group messaging. I would recommend chatting with a Samsung Device Support Specialist as they often have many unique tips and tricks that they may be able to let you know about that may help. They can be found at this link:

Having just purchased this device (bought it on 2/1), and learning of this issue (unfortunately after the purchase), I took your advice and followed the link you suggested, and did a live chat with a Samsung representative... Here is some of the conversation (I'm Paul)
Veronica: From the start screen tap Messaging>>tap on the icon which in turn shows settings>.tap on settings>.enable group text on >.press back key.
Veronica: Your settings will be automatically saved.
Paul: On my settings screen I don't have that option
Paul: I had it on my windows phone 7
Paul: so I'm aware of the setting, but it does not exist on this phone
Veronica: I am sorry to hear that.
Veronica: May I know what options you are able to see in settings?
Paul: Text Message Backup
Paul: Chat Backup
Paul: Use Facebook chat
Paul: Automatically download MMS
Paul: and a button for Emergency Alerts
Veronica: Thank you for the information.
Veronica: I would like to inform you that it should be an option under settings as per the information available with us.
Veronica: Did you update the device software recently?
Paul: I checked for OS updates, and it said my phone was up to date
Veronica: Okay. Thank you for the information.
Veronica: As you have just purchased the device, I recommend you contact the carrier support or place of purchase and check for the available options because it might be a carrier related service.
Veronica: I will be glad to share the contact details of Sprint support.
So I am back to you all. Does this mean we are officially getting the run around and caught in the middle of a blame game?
As others have stated, I too had an HTC Arrive to which it worked flawlessley. I wish I had known about this issue yesterday before getting the phone so I could have gotten the HTC. Now my only option to do that is to get charged the restocking fee of $35 if I want to switch.
Thank you for providing that detailed information. I can understand your frustration regarding this issue. I would like to see what we can do to further assist you with resolving this issue and or getting you into another device. Can you please PM us with your account information and a copy of the link to this thread. We would also need to know a good time to contact you.

Just updated to the official GDR3 release and it looks like group text options are enabled. Just waiting for some replies from a test I sent to see what the experience is like and if it is properly working. Really hoping this works!
Edit: Looks like MMS is working properly to do group texting. Very happy about this... now to just get my roaming options fixed...
Thanks for the update. Glad to hear the Group Texts is working for you. However, please let me know what's going with your Roaming situation so I can help.

Hi KC, you can refer to this thread which goes into detail with a number of different customers about the issue. Roaming options grayed out on GDR3
As you can see, this issue has been around since at least November, still with no resolution.
I just did the update and it's working now thankfully. You know how annoying it was during Super Bowl not to be able to respond or get group texts? 1st world problems I know, but still annoying. Go Hawks!
