Yes very exciting news. Can't wait to update my WP 8.1
Windows Phone 9 preview will come with a lot of new features, but there’s no doubt that many will get tweaked or even removed before the final product sees daylight.
The aforementioned source claims that split-screen multitasking, working in the same way as Windows 8’s snap view mode does, could also be implemented in order to help those with large displays perform a number of tasks simultaneously.
Such a feature would actually make sense given the fact that Microsoft is working to merge Windows Phone with Windows RT, so side-by-side app multitasking would really come in handy if the resulting platform were installed on large screen devices.
According to the same source, this split-screen multitasking option might actually be available on devices with screens of at least 4.9 inches, so a lot of Lumias on the market won’t actually get it.
Windows Phone 9 preview offered to all WP8 devices
One of the most important aspects of the Windows Phone 9 preview launch is the support for all devices running WP8, which means that pretty much every single device out there, including the very affordable Lumia 520, should be able to cope with its requirements.
One important mention, however, is that not all devices would come with the same amount of features. Low-endphones, for example, might lack the aforementioned multitasking option, but also other features designed specifically for high-end devices.
I think you posted to the wrong carriers forum. This is sprint "the home of 1 windows phone that does not even have timetable to get WP8.1 on that device. If windows 9 does have curtailed features for lower end phones, than Sprints only WP phone option certainly will miss out being that it is a fairly old device.
Cool. So that means I'll have to stay with my crappy IPhone until my contract runs out, then go find this. Likely AT&T.
Sprint- not all of us are children!! Give us a few real phones that adults might like!
I didn't post wrong forum. I posted it right since I can't wait get it. I already been using WP 8.1 since April and read from Microsoft blog that anyone with WP 8.1 will get wp9 preview for free. So no need get a new phone even if sprint don't have update. lol.. all you people waiting for update from sprint good luck lol
I spoke to a customer care rep yesterday. The 8.1 update is due Feb or March 2015. So, I've signed up with T-Mobile with the Lumia 635.
