Re: iPhone 4S on 3G data network too slow to be useful

Mondays through Wednesdays have had good speeds in 32789 the past two weeks.  But today, back to a crawl:

Ping = 338

DL = 0.11 Mbps

UL = 0.01 Mbps

No consistency so far, unless inconsistency can be considered consistent.

Im happy im still getting decent speeds here in NYC since getting my phone last week. There are a few times it gets slow or i get the dreaded "o" instead of 3G but most places i get avg 1.0mpbs down. I just played 3 Youtube and CNN videos on 3G with no buffering at all. I never could do that with AT&T, especially during the day.

You can add Boise, ID to the list.

Tried to talk to Sprint and they didn't seem to care even remotely. This sucks because I really had high hopes switching to Sprint from AT&T but if they don't improve soon that's going to leave me with Verizon it looks like.

Sprint do something about this, you have a lot of angry customers.

@Coney718, I am assuming you are in Brooklyn by Coney Island? Are you getting these speeds at home, in your apartment? Also, what other boroughs other than Brooklyn have you tried out the speed test? I ask because I am in the Bronx, by Baychester and while in the same block of my house I get the "o", but when I walk 2 blocks away I am able to get fast 3G speeds. Mind you, I live in a House, not an apartment building.

Re: iPhone 4S on 3G data network too slow to be useful

From Zip 87508, been consistently getting good speeds past two days.  Not sure what has changed, but generally seeing .6 to 1.2 MBPS down, with most tests being right around 1 MBPS down.  Upload speed about .5-.75 MBPS.  Using Speedtest.net and the FCC app.  I'm fine with these speeds.  About a week ago, had similar speeds and then it dropped big time.  Back up now and hope it stays.  I seriously doubt there is any hardware issue with the 4S.  I think what we're experiencing is simply network capacity problems.

78240 Been on iphone 4s for a week and speed are (download 0.40mbs and Upload 0.07mbs) Had an evo 4g and evo 3d and never has 3g issues in my area. I called sprint and they said they are working on it well when my bill comes this month I will also be working on it. This sucks I hope they fix soon or I will have to return my device and go back to android as iphone is to slow for me. Fix it sprint.

Here is San Francisco, it looks like a networking issue to me. Here are my figures from zip code 94105:

If the packets can make it back and forth from Palo Alto at 1.4M/0.25M then other locations shouldn't much slower if Sprint's internet pipes are wide enough from their cell centers to internet exchange points.

iPhone 4S on 3G data network too slow to be useful

Consumer Reports just came out with a report recommending the iPhone 4s. They mention the battery issue, but no word on the Sprint data issue.

I suggest that we all find anywhere that this article is posted and comment about our experience with Sprint in this matter. Those who read the Consumer Reports articles deserve to know the truth about the Sprint iPhone.

And frankly, Sprint needs the bad press in order to actually FIX this problem.

Okay sprint I got the iPhone cause I heard from a friend that it's the most amazing device, and his is great no problems what so ever. Of course he has AT&T. Please fix the network issue, this phone is awesome, but only when I'm at home using my wifi.. It took me more than 30min to load a web page. Fix this.

iPhone 4S on 3G data network too slow to be useful

Speeds suck in Farmington Hills and plymouth, michigan ( both are in metro detroit). download speed was 0.02 MBps. My peer who has an AT&T iphone 4 got speed in excess of 5 MBPS. What use is unlimited data when are restricted to worse than dial up modem speeds.....!!!!!!!!!!!Sprint, do something.

Sprint chat agent first denied the issue then when I said I would return the device, she acknowledged the issue and said that Sprint and Apple are working to resolve it...asap. Why lie in the first place????????????
