Over the last month, I have had the pleasure of testing out the good, the bad and the in betweens of the Moto E4. Please read my previous articles to review what my initial opinion was, my favorite features and my most recent article which discussed the durability and phone case options. Within the usage period, I feel I have had pretty good opportunity to test all the bells and whistles as well as make a total well informed the decision whether or not I would recommend this phone to a new user. The short answer to that is yes, I would definitely say this phone is a good starter smart phone. As for an advanced smart phone user, I would say it probably isn't the best choice.  Price and durability would be the top reasons I would recommend the Moto E4 to a new smart phone user.

Coming in at just under $150 it makes it very easy to outright own your first smart phone. The biggest reason I would say it probably isn't the best choice for an advanced smart phone user would be that the security level is not as advanced there is no option to use finger print so, as apps are advancing many are allowing fingerprint login and this phone will keep you from that option. Another big reason is there is no NFC function so an advanced user probably would want this feature to make payments using the phone or other NFC enabled processes. Overall it is a great phone for the price and I would recommend this phone in the future.

Hello throughout this article I am going to discuss durability, phone case options, and the new opinion of the battery. So let me start by saying anytime my phone is not in my hand it is at risk for destruction by 1 of 4 little people which share my DNA. The two older will frequently stalk me and the moment I release grip the snatch it up to watch some youtube or Netflix and the younger one seem to think cell phones are the best teethers made and insist on putting them in their mouths or making music by banging them on any near by objects. With that being known I was surprised when the MOTO E4 made it two weeks without injury. I went in search of a case before my luck ran out. There was plenty of cases to choose from however, most were more for aesthetics than for protection but the search continued.

I searched my usual go to Amazon and I finally decided on one that had the shock absorption, ultra thin anti-slip armor silicone rubber hybrid protective cover in silver sold by Dretal. The case was very inexpensive at just under $9 and arrived within 3 days with the Amazon prime membership. As I was waiting for the case to arrive my fears of the phone having an accident came true, however, I could not blame one of my minions for this. I set the phone down on what I perceived to be a flat surface and sadly the phone slowly slid down to the tiled floor right before my eyes. It was about 4ft from the ground and I was fearful of the damage as I picked it up I noticed the glass in the rear camera area was cracked, as I turned it over to view the front I was sure a shattered screen was to follow but to my surprize, it survived. Lastly, I am going to give you an update on what I think about the better. In my last post, I expressed how I thought the battery was above average and lasted longer than what would be my phone of choice well there have been some new findings. During the last week, my gaming and phone use has been getting closer to my actual usage time as I have downloaded most of the apps I had previously and was really determined to put Moto E4 to the test. About midday during a session of about 2hr gaming activity the battery began to get warm and then hot I had to stop all activity for about an hour to let it cool down. I then had another test how long would this battery last just watching Netflix and it did better than I thought. Starting at 100% I binge watched a series and the phone made it just over 6hrs before powering down. My overall opinion is still that this phone gives a lot for the budget friendly price point it offers.

To start I have a confession, when given this phone to review I thought of the withdraws I would have and the features I would miss on the phone I would be subbing out but, I was wrong. This phone has surpassed my expectations and has met all my needs as a heavy phone user. The only drawback I have noticed is the version I have does not have the high-level fingerprint security. I could talk about the specs and fill this post with numbers representing those specs but what I have decided to do is share with you, my top 3 favorite features.

Several of my favorite features are the blue light filter, battery life, and slim design. The blue light filters allow you to designate a schedule for the blue light to take effect and end, this feature does not change the intensity of the light but removes some harsh color which is conducive to helping with better sleep.20170810_074058.jpg

Battery life was impressive I found myself plugging in for a charge boost later in the day than I would with my typical phone and I would consider myself a heavy phone user between my part-time job as a real estate agent and my love for game apps. The last feature that feels important to discuss is the design both being lightweight and slim making it easy to keep in your pocket. I have been shopping for a case and finally found one that I like so be on the look out for my next post which I will discuss the case and options available.
